i personally prefer nite exploring cos its cooler & quieter. & i got decent torchlights (3 midrange 1s) 2 illuminate my path at least 10m ahead. ttz under misty conditionz...

anyway where gd? i dun drive so somewhere accessible by bus or train is gd.

The picture I poster earlier was at Jurong Road Track 22.

Track 22 still has several abandoned kampongs (houses still there) and factories.

I've located the old Jurong railway thanks to a 1995 street directory:



The Jurong railway branch branches off the main railway from near Bukit Timah Railway Station.

Going diagonally, it goes under Clementi Road, beside Sunset Way flats, with a rail bridge across Sunset Way.

Across Sungei Ulu Pandan, below Clementi Ave 4 and Commonwealth Ave West (beside ITE Clementi). Under Faber Heights (name of road).

It then goes along AYE, crossing Sungei Pandan and going to Teban Gardens estate, crossing under AYE below the interchange with Jurong Town Hall Road.

It goes behind Blk 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 20, 21 (along Teban Gardens Crescent on the other side). Crosses Penjuru Road at level crossing.

Moving slightly north again, along AYE, crossing Sungei Jurong. Then at the junction of Yuan Ching Road/AYE (Jln Ahmand Ibrahim), it turns southwest.


Branch 1:
Branches off just after Yuan Ching Road, crosses Jalan Terusan at level crossing before Jalan Besut.
It goes south, between Blks 5, 4 & 3 Jurong Port Road (not sure if these HDB blocks are still there) and Jurong Abattoir.

Crossing Jalan Buroh at level, this branch crosses Jalan Tepong and ends along it. Just before the end of the road itself.

Branch 2:
This branch branches off just after Jurong Port Road. Makes a tight turn south, crossing Jalan Buroh, ends within Jurong Port in front of Blk J15.

The railway has a short spur, running beside Blk J16A. (Might be railway station? :? )

Main line:
This is the main line. It travels diagonally straight, in southwest direction. Crosses at Jalan Buroh/Jurong Pier Road junction.

It's parallel with Jalan Buroh, but behind the factories.
Crossing Tanjong Kling Road at level, it goes along Shipyard Road, across Refinery Road and ends along Shipyard Road.

Some sections of the railway had been dismantled.
The railway along Tanjong Kling Road is still there, badly overgrown. Even the old railway signs, railway crossing arms are there.


Anyone planning on exploring the Jurong railway, be careful of the section near Jurong Abattoir. It stinks very horribily!!!

Well i guess i can say i like exploring too. Stopped recently coz those ulu places infested with mozzies! Don't want to risk getting dengue nowadays lol.

And i mostly go alone so can OTOT do let me know if you have anything in mind redstone.

Lorong Buang Kok

Sungei Khatib Bongsu
Off Yishun Ave 6. Based around the river delta plains.

Jurong Road Track 22
The villages were evicted officially on 1 July 2004. Now the empty villages are still there, but not going to be for long.

Ubin Village
The main village on Pulau Ubin

Kampong Melayu
Now only a few houses of the formerly seaside fishing village still exist.



The sad thing is that almost all villages on Ubin had been cleared. :cry:

Kampong Melayu is quite scattered, along the main road leading to Chek Java.

I need confirmation if there's any other kampongs left.

The one behind teban gardens estate is still there with some tracks tat cutting across road removed. There also a small tunnel tat filled with water. You can still find some "farm" that is illegal. Nothing really interesting left with those overgrown vegetation.

Those days, can hear the train 'klung klung klung" from my house... :sweatsm:

A few years ago I had a camp at Bukit Merah Sec. Then was at old Gan Eng Seng Sec campus.

Beside Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. At night can hear 'piak piak piak' 'klung klung klung'. Very noisy. :bsmilie:

When was the last time you've heard of them?
I think I saw a small kampong in 2001 or 2000 at Admiralty Road West beside Khalsa Cresent DRC. Now gone. :cry:
