Who is your dive buddy?

abt 90% of the time, it's my DM
cause once I finish shooting, straight up I go. so no one want to buddy me. :bsmilie:

What howeikwok said about diving with ppl with similar subject interest is very true. Everyone can contribute in looking for stuff and will enjoy the dive better. The non-photographers become the spotter and photographer take pictures. Good combination. :)

yes... i thoughtly agreed with you.

the non-photographer can continue to spot critters while the photographers take pictures :p

So, if I sum up, you need:
- a DM who knows the site and will help to bring you at the proper places
- a Buddy good for spotting, liking the same criters as you do
- a Buddy good looking enough for Wide angle shots (when pausing for you)

Option one: you buddy is a very good looking DM diving skin would love criters and doesn't mind waiting for your 6th shot

Option two: you know the dive site and you don't shoot Wide Angle. And you dive on your own :nono:

Any other magic option?

Well.
Thanks a lot for your feedback, very interesting points of view and ideas.
Keep it safe: keep somebody next to you when you dive

Cheers,
Pierre.

Dive with a "captive" buddy, like a girlfriend, wife, or (when you old like me) daughter :bsmilie:. They will either hang around you patiently or are able to harrass you to move on the way others can't.

My daughter hangs around me, but the trick I pulled is to buy her a camera with a housing :sweatsm:. So she is also shooting nearby...

Downside, you get to pay for everything, airfare, diving, food, everything.

haha that's still not so bad...we had a dad who came and took his open water together with his 3 children. ressspecctttttttt!

imagine how his heart would feel when each of them says "Dad, i want my own BC and reg...and sis says she want to take video also"

((=

i don't usually have a fixed dive buddy, so have to be aware of where the group is and not get too caught up in waiting for that jawfish to pop up again.

sometimes my girlfriend comes along, and she acts as a 'spotter'. Spot the group so we won't get lost! haha she keeps the group in sight and notes things of interest so when i'm done with a shot, she points me in the right direction.

best thing, she pays for her own share
