Who is using the 5D?

85 1.2!!! Astounding resolving power for details in highlights and shadows. Amazing graduation of colours. If shot with AF, then AF at low light is quite impressive. But low noise is apparently not an obvious strength. I won't go as far as to say that it's noisier than 10D or D60, but it definitely is not noticeably better than 20D.

Hmmm, whats all that purple lining along some of the edges in the centre?

Yah, the noise level is bad, but the new samples are more acceptable compared to the merlion shot, maybe over sharpen.... Wait for it to drop price or come out with a Mk2 first.;)

that's CA. it's characteristic of the 85 L when shot wide open

I Just came back frm Japan and bought a 5D for a friend at Namba , Osaka. Shop display price 378,000Yen. Asked for discount and immediatly got it at 348,000Yen. Asked for tax free and another 5% off. Finally roundup to 330,000Yen and can pay by VISA  .

If buying there, remember to get the LCD protector specially for 5D too. Coms in 2 piece set.

Japan is the best place to buy 5D!

I told the sales person our Singapore price and he nearly fainted.:bsmilie:
The shop offers 5 Years warranty. Too bad local only.
I received first class service from the sales guy. He tested it with 17-40L before paying.
For those who is planing to get it there, Camera menu and CD solution disk is multi language. Instrution manual can download from Canon web page. And get it from shops with Tax-Free option. 5% is quite a lot of money.;)

Too bad I have no time to look around. I was at Namba station just to change train. On my way to office for a meeting and only have an hour there. What I heard from the shop guy is that many could not get stocks. I guess most shop price it at 348k (include 5% GST). Not all shops have tax-free though. Shop name on the previos post.

There was a note paste beside the display. 5 years is extended warranty by the shop (Like what our local shops are doing sometimes). Did not have time to read details and my Japanese is ready rusty
:embrass:

Only if SG have the same price as Japan. :bsmilie:
Btw, what's 5D price now in SG? Any changes ?

That's quite a difference.

What's the warranty like if you need to make use of it here?

I believe the warrenty if u get it from Japan will be Local only... no international warranty for Canon bodies.
