I was still hoping for the 18-55mm IS to be 17-55mm IS...... But dpreview list it as only $199USD.... Err, making it a very affordable IS lense. Not too good.... but not to bad also. Hehehehe

That would be good.... some more 'Pro' buyer will sell the lense cheap in Market Place as a 2nd hand lense soon.... hahaha, cheaper some more

The bundled kit lens with IS! That has got to be the best selling point for the masses to switch to DSLR.
Any idea on the pricing of the 55-250IS? I reckon it should be about S$499, or I'd rather get a 100-300mm

Maybe they intend to sell the 18-55IS and 55-250IS as a dual kit set....
I take it as further indication that canon won't be introducing inbody IS anytime soon....
If the 55-250mm IS sell for $499SGD as suggested..... it would still be a good telezoom. No way as good as a L lense... But good and cheap for buget user like me, who wants the capablitily of IS without selling a kidney to buy.

58mm filter. plastic mount. 108mm length. probably rotating front element.
Has to be S$400-450 street price to compete with Nikon's 55-200VR

I'd consider for its size, price, travel-friendly weight and IS. Won't expect too much for IQ.
Besides with the new EF-S, there won't be a Canon EF-S 18-200IS, ever.
