AFS motor is dying and hence the screeching sound.


had it like some 2yrs ago and sent it in for an overhaul of the AFS motor that set me back some S$900/.


its quite a frequent issue with AFS17-35 if u check around international photography forums and even within CS itself.

The screeching sound which was slightly more obvious on some of the lenses disappeared when I used them on D300.... :dunno:

my friend had previously sent his to alex photo to get the SWM replaced. can't recall the price tag... but of course cheaper than the NCS price (else he would have gone to NCS).

i have heard this of the 17-35 on various forums, but never < 1yr (TS was talking about warranty... unless he had US 3-year or other extended warranty programmes).
