Realised that you were on reservist after sending you an email.

Not sure Picturecd is working for me, but i have to upload one picture at a time.... I always fell asleep after each sucessfully uploading! No Kidding!! Else it shows that I'm a IT NUT!!

Hey, can look into diving in Dec or not? As i would have finished my exam then. Very keen to go Bali too.

I really have no idea becos I could do multiple file transfer. Just select the files and upload all at one shot....

My going to Bali or Lembeh depends on when my wife is travellin for her business trip. As it is now, it is in Nov, but things may change. Most prob going bali becos got a friend who opened her new cafe recently and I promise her to go have a look....she said it's pretty similar to Huu Bar so got to check it out.

I am pretty sure I'll use my camera on land a lot more, and so I prefer something with faster response. Probably will check out the A70 or A80.

I don't dive very frequently so I can't justify a full time diving camera. I bought it thinking that I can use it as a general purpose camera, but I tend to shoot cats, birds, streets, event where things moves rather quickly, and the C5050 is a little slow there. Main problem is when switching between modes, it is a bit slow, can take 3 seconds or so of waiting before the camera will even response.

Another important thing is I often shoot wide angle but will want to avoid a wide angle convertor as far as possible. So would want to look at a camera that has something around 28mm too........

Will probably still buy one with underwater housing. But right now only camera with underwater housing and covers 28mm is 5060, which don't use AA battries......

A80 is nice, but it doesn't covers 28mm and don't have 640x480 video.

A70 have 640x480 video, but no 28mm either and don't have swivel LCD......

If you are looking to buy a digicam primarily for u/w use, A70 is a decent cheap option since you can't use the swivel lcd underwater anyway. With the new digic chip, there is a huge improvement over the old A40. (Dunno why canon disabled the 640x480 video in A80 - so irritating.) The A80 specs sound v good tho - it uses the same larger sensor as the Ixus400 and S45.

I guess you have to balance the amt you can get from selling yr 5050 with how much the new camera will cost. Dun forget the 5050 has an excellent macro mode (remember waisj's fantastic photo book :bigeyes: ) which the canons can't match.

I think we could actually ask for it right now...... i mean, this thread is easily one the busiest, if not the busiest thread around, thus asking the moderator or the administrator for a dedicated thread should not be much of a problem. Underwater photography is still one of specialistion around

The A70 is quite quick on land but seems a little slower underwater. Cld just be my gloves and the housing?! I haven't handled the 5050 before so can't give you a comparison. Think the low light underwater will cause most cameras to focus more slowly; light (or the lack thereof) IS a major problem for underwater photography. If you'll lose quite a bit of $$ when selling the 5050, maybe you shld keep it! ;p

Probably would test out this aspect of the A70/80 before making any decision.
The A70 w housing is quite a bit smaller than the C5050 with housing right?

How I wish there is a A1 that uses AA battery and with 7fps and has a UW housing. I'll grab that immediately.

Of course, the other option is to just keep the camera and use it as it is......
