Sorry for OT

How do u change the WB of a picture in photoshop.

Thanks

One way would be to set white point under the "curves" command.
pick the item in the scene which u know to be white. e.g. wall.

technically, that's is call "set black/gray/white point" on "curves" or "level" command.

to adjust white balance, is only apply on RAW images.

If you want photo touch up only, Adobe's Lightroom does a great job. Very easy to batch process WB, Hue, Sat etc. Photoshop sometimes an overkill for simple jobs I feel...

IIRC, the only way to get full flexibility for WB correction is to shoot RAW. I don't think you can do the same thing with a jpeg file.

for nikon, setting towards the + side makes the outcome of the pic towards the blue(cooler).

Setting the WB to the - side makes the outcome of the color towards orange(warm).

Now it is up to the individual if he wants it bluish or orangy, sometimes u got to break the rule to get the outcome of the color. for example, like at your enviroment where u showed your pics, the lights are fluorscent, you DONT need to follow the rule, setting it to fluorscent.

You can set to whatever white balance for your desired color of the pic.\

hope i helped.

I remember that in the old days, pointing to a patch of green grass works almost the same as a grey card when shooting in black and white. Not sure if it's still the same. Maybe can give it a try... :-)

No... unfortunately this method will not work with digital.

Ahhhh..... your statement reminds me of my good ol' days shooting rugby games at the Padang.;)

Attend my Photoshop workshop and I will show you at least 5 ways to do it...... ;)

Anyway for 'White Balancing for Dummies', try Adobe Lightroom.

LR allows you to WB correct even for jpegs? :o

Get a 18% gray card. Place it under the light source. Then pre-set the White balance using the gray card's reading.

Pardon me, newbie here.

I thought Gray card is for exposure (metering), while White card is for White-Balance?

My apologies... but a light gray card should be servicable too ;)

any neutral tone surface can use for custom white balance, this including 18% gray card.

I just got the Expodisc for around S$130 including postage from the US. Works really well...

Hi

Is it easy and fast to use, the Expodisc

You can try to use Picasa 2, which is a free download... owned by Google... and in the Tuning section, you can adjust the color temperature...

I think Picasa 2 is a really good free program to use to edit pictures... and did I mention it's free? Singaporeans love freebies!
