Which zoom lens to use with Pentax digitals?

I did use a tripod, a cheap china made version which is quite light for easy transport. There was a slight breeze blowing across the bridge where I was standing. The last few shots I finally took using the 5 sec timer to dampen movement caused by me pressing the shutter.
Looks Like I would have use my 055 Manfrotto tripod and 410 head (which I used normally for my astronomical telescope). This is more sturdy but also much heavier.
Perhaps I should stick to places where wind is not a problem...then I can continue to use the more portable china tripod..
