Which will you choose, D200 or D2H?

I think I need to find out more to kill my curiosity...maybe go camera shop and do some shoots using both camera then bring home compare. Best if IT show have them

Yup agreed on don't need to upgrade PC and huge MB of files to process.

The print size is 24x36 inches. Taken by a D2H (Not D2Hs)

P.S. Maybe if taken by D200, the eyeball of the Tiger would be more details and sharper.

Tried the D200 in the IT show. Tried the continuous high speed fps, sound like a out of gas

Nikon is nice but S5 has arrived. It is not about the number of pixels but how to manage them.

But to answer the question. Since I am mostly shoting portraits, I would go for the D200. No need for the speed of the D2H. And prefer not to carry the extra weight as well. D2H too bulky for me. Although the D200 + Grip is also BIG. But at least can choose to remove the grip.

oddly, both my browser EXIF reader and Photoshop says it was taken with a D70s at 1/80

anyway, i shoot both D2H and D2X.
they are pro bodies and you wont forget it. once you go ( D2 ) black, you can never go back...

but, as has already been said, it depends on what you want to do with it.

for many people the D200 will be better as an all-round camera where operational speed, speed of AF, etc are not requirements.

Sport shooters however, will do alot better with the faster cameras for obvious reasons.
The D2X has the edge in terms of cropping room and larger high speed images.

i voted for D2H as i love mine, and it was an influence when considering either a D200 or another D2 body (sharing same batteries and chargers helps though..)

Agree with you....once you are on D2H zone............the D200 seems like a toy camera. I do have a D200 as well but I use it mainly for still life as it does not need fast focusing at all. With the D2H, it works brilliantly because of the super fast focus which it's mainly use for events, sports and even portraiture.

So there is no need to compare at all......buy what you really need. Don't buy because everyone says it's newer and better. I am not sure if you still can get a brand new D2H or D2Hs.

Versatility and a reliable body. I don't do pixel peeping and indulgent cropping means your composition wasn't strong in the first place. :bsmilie:

if only D2H had better noise control and colour metering. But .. really . once u had D2H. D200 feels like a toy...even with the grip.. and it doesnt handles that well for the lack of powerful focus module

For goodness sake, this topic shld have died a quiet death a long time ago.

Each users have their usage, and there is no better or not... it's only in your aspect of usage and interest and mebbe also how deep your pockets go.

Mebbe the TS can help to lock this up for good.

I've printed A1 posters with D2Hs' 4 MP. Looks good enough for me. But the thing is when you have to crop the image up to a certain level, the image quality will decline a great deal.

BTW, I've also printed 30"x20" poster with D2H 4MP, with no special processing except Nikon Capture and Photoshop. But on the basis that I started with RAW file. :lovegrin:
