Which wide angle lens for the D300

Get the Sigma 10-20mm or the Nikkor 12-24mm. Both have very good reviews. I have the Nikkor 12-24mm. If you get the Nikkor, you won't have any regrets. Thom Hogan has the Sigma 10-20mm. If I had to do it again, I might go with the Sigma. Then again, I may regret it ;)

Tokina 11-16/2.8. The Tokina's main weakness is compensated by the D300 CA correction engine.

WOW - I'm still confused at the various recommendations.

The Sigma 10-20mm (S$800 at Lords) is half the price of the Nikon 12-24 f/4g (S$1500 at Lords)
Would i notice the difference between the lenses? I would prefer to spend more money as an investment and if the lens is noticeably different.
Would the Nikon 12-24 f/2.8G be a good investment? I know this is primarily for full frame however is it worth buying now as I would possibly upgrade to full frame in 1-2 years. Would I notice the difference on my D300 or would this be a waste of money.

Yes, the most obvious is the Sigma is wider. ;p As for image quality, you might be able to notice a more obvious difference at the image corners when blown to 100%. Then again, it's not a fair comparison because the focal lengths are not the same.

Hey, do take note that the nikon 12-24 is only for DX format. Some examples of full frame wide angles are the 17-35, 18-35 and the new 14-24.

he probably had a typo from 14 to 12.

Don't forget that sigma lenses tend to peel in our climate.
