Which third party battery grip to get for D700?

Bought an MB-D10 this afternoon. The feel is good and the fit seems to be A LOT better than any of the Canon grips I've gotten previously. however, I felt the joy pad is pretty redundant since the rear panel does not switch to portrait orientation when I use the grip. I end up using the joy pad on the body to access to the menus. It could be my problem but I find the joy pad on the grip an extremely painful to use. The top key almost never work. Whenever I try to press it, I end up pressing the centre portion instead, selecting the item on the menu instead of scrolling to the one above. Using a D3 as well so my other rant is that Nikon did not include the adaptor for EN-EL4a while 3rd party grips do. If you are one who is sensitive to built quality, go for the original, if not, I think 3rd party ones should work as well.

Or, you can spend another S$60 (roughly) to buy this solution:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battery-En-EL4a-BL3-2200mAh-11-4V-NIKON-MB-D10-/350218441025

I have a Phottix, use it once and now lying somewhere in drawer....waste $...felt no confident with it as the battery will just lost charge after a few shots....take out the battery and put back then OK for a while and problem will recur

Thanks for sharing this tip..

Nah, not going to bother myself with another charger. I'll just go with another piece of EL3.

Ah, for d3(s) owner, the BL-3 is a wiser choice. This is more for those with only the MB-D10.

Where my experience with third party grip is concerned, its once-bitten-twice-shy. Bought one before for my Canon, the soft felt (supposedly for weather sealing) on the battery door just totally crumbled after using the grip for only a few times. Made everything look so pathetic & ugly. Loved the original Nikon grip, great design, good contacts & "solid" feel like camera. Imo if can afford the camera, dont scrimp on the grip else forget about it altogether if no real necessity For me, either a grip is so good & so useful I use it all the time or I can live without it. Also, buy it preowned is better than third party...
