lets say if a potential customer who is still sitting on the fence and he just wishes to take a look and he faces such a reply. Its abit intimidating, not to say a fair bit on the unfriendly side.

If I want to take a look, I don't mind looking at the display set. Let's say you want to buy a TV, you will look at the display set and decide, no? If a bag is on display and it is in mint condition, I wouldn't mind getting it over a fresh new piece

Yeah, but thats just you. Anyway, the main issue is still with how he speaks, its not something I would consider as acceptable.

After checking, I just paid up and left. His tone changed a lil when I was paying. This is just a heads up to potential customers, It was my first time getting from OP but the experience was certainly below average. Maybe I should stick with CP/BP.

Well, let just say us Singaporeans are so "cost conscious" that we simply pay as little as possible.

Hence it is a good thing to see shops like CP or John, survive based on service.


Each time I see a thread or post on XXX shop is rude, I take it with a pinch of salt. Each dealer also has their off days.

I have had a good time with TK, AP, CP, Lords, go to another shop if you are not happy, as many have said, or even come back when you feel better, but the bottomline, reward the shop that gives you the best service, and not just the best price.
It cost money to keep good staff.

In all fairness, some bigger shops like Cathay, has got good individuals who are excellent in service.
I can't speak for the majority tho.

Similar for shops like Alan and so on...

Shall give my humble review at Orient Photo today.

Headed there today with my girl cause I was keen on purchasing a W5070 rucksack from there. Price was rather competitive plus I have heard alot about OP being one of the more reputable shops in SG. Went there, Seems that only 1 guy on service (30s china balding guy?). I enquiry regarding the availability and quote price but I was shocked at how he replied. He was rather impatient with me, especially more so when I asked to inspect a new piece. He snapped," So you confirm want the bag first?!"

You mean one must confirm buy the bag then can take out a new piece to view it? Worse part was, the one piece had a minor scratch on the metal tag and I told him about it. He looked at it, stared at me and said, "You rather picky eh (Ni ?" before proceeding to take out another piece. Clearly his attitude and tone were not friendly, even my gf felt offended, like what we did wrong to deserve these treatments.

I have similar experience with the same guy at OP, and i'm looking for a particular bag which only sold by them. At first, I asked that bald young china guy, he gave me price $228, and seems he won't lower the price and I went look for other shops. After a while I went back to the shop because I can't find other shops sell that bag. That bald china guy was not there, so I asked his colleague and turn out his colleague gave me better price which is $220..

After few minutes of consideration, I decided to buy and ask them to get it for me and that bald guy came back. Because his colleague busy with another customer, the bald guy is the one who go get the bag, and he found out i got cheaper price from his colleague and he refused to sell me with that price and price went back to $228. His colleague just went silence and careless, meanwhile he complaining and gave me some lame reason that his colleague mistaken check the price and he twittering in some strong chinese accent that i don't understand.

Although OP is the only shop in the building has that bag, I'd rather postpone my desire to get that bag and wait for CP to has the stock. And I went home with empty hand.

You might as well have gotten it just then, because almost all bags at OP are sold at much cheaper prices than at Cathay.

At this point, I'd rather spend more for my own satisfaction and ego than give him the business although he would not care if I come back to him or not.

Good for you! If I were you I would never come back there again and tell all my friends never to go there and they should tell their friends too. That kind of abuse should not be tolerated.
