I vote John 3:16 as they offered good service as well as good price.

Usually comments by poster with low post count or newly joined are usually ignored lol.. either inexperienced or not here long enough to understand the workings, so take it with a pinch of salt! :D

MS Color is very selective. If you walk in not knowing your stuff, you will still be charged manufacturers recommended selling price.

Actually ah many years back when I bought my S2 Pro from Cathay Peninsula, I found them v helpful. Over the years bought a few compacts (for others la), a DSLR and some lenses all from them. But at the same time noticed the faces of the sales pp getting blacker and blacker. But see ang moh happier. Their pricing is getting less competitive though. Maybe they got too successful now head big?????

In my personal experience everything's fine if you do extensive research before you make a purchase. That makes the whole buying experience a lot easier as 1) you know what exactly you want, 2) the guy doesn't have to tell you so much. Just tell them what you want, pay and get out. Simple as that. If you have queries about different things, well you can always come to CS for handy dandy personal answers from people who have had experience.

That said, I like MS Color for its e-quote function, John 3:16 for its friendly staff and Cathay Photo for its array of imported stuff that sometimes you can't get elsewhere without importing it yourself.

I agree. CP seems to be very tourist friendly nowadays, at the expense of locals. Prices not too great either.

For MS Color, try visiting the old shop near Jubilee. I visited the new one at AMK Hub twice, and twice i got p**sed. Maybe i never buy enough from them. :dunno:

Which shop offers a better price and good customer service? Just put in you personal feel.....

There is no shop which is very good in price and service. I dun mine to pay for a little higher price for good service (a little higher only ah, not too much, I'm limited). So I voted John 3:16.:thumbsd::thumbsup:

yah, voted for john for its service. don't mind paying more for a good experience.

i've bought all my stuff from J3:16 since the 1st day i started off in photography. i have to admit they're really good in terms of service. and even remember what camera and lenses i have.

prices may not be the best..but definitely comparable to AP the last time i checked.

I have a very interesting experience, let me start off with the worst one,

Alan Photo in funan, simply the worst, no one can beat.

I was out shopping for a DSLR and I knew nothing abt camera. so I wanted to get some advice and at the same time have a feel of the cameras I short listed, Canon D450 and Nikon 90D.

When I walked in...no one seemed to bother, no one was interested to offer help, then I approached one saleman, he tried to look away as if he can see the invisible "i'm not buying" words on my forehead. The I asked him if he can tell me a bit more abt the diff btwn these 2 cameras, and his answer was, " THEY ARE THE SAME!", puzzled and I replied, I'm a first time buyer, sorry can u explain....." and he goes," wa lao...they're the same lah...all can take pictures what"

Then I ask to check out the Nikon. "no stock" he replied. and here comes the last straw, I pointed at the canon and asked him," can I see the 450D then?" Instead of showing me the camera, he simply went, "IT'S ON THE SHELF WHAT, SEE LOH!" and walked away.

I gave up and left the shop.

....and the best : John 3:16

The next day I decided to check out 3:16 ( the day b4 they were close). Again, my aim was to get some info or advice to help me decide which camera to choose. I wasnt ready to buy yet (but i was definitely a serious buyer).

I was pleasantly surprise to be greeted by 3 friendly chaps, who are patient, helpful and very welling to share their knowledge and most of all, sincere. They explained in depth what each camera can do and can't, and to let me 'play' with the cameras, "go and take some pictures, take until u happy", said one guy. He even took out a few lenses to let me try too.

This is what I call service :)

Then I told my wife I'm gonna withdraw money. she said,' but we haven't checked out CP and MS color yet". "nevermind" I said.

I would like to concur that John 3:16 definitely provide good and sincere services. I was there in Dec to buy my first DSLR camera, Samuel (I think he is the boss) really took his time and efforts to explain things to me clearly, even though he knew I'm a Green Horn.... After purchasing two cameras there, I went home and slept in peace :)

As for the other two shops, sadly I will give them a miss until their staffs treat local properly

MScolors for me, purchased a compact(not mine tho) and 1st Dslr there(sadly D90 were outta stock when i wanted to buy it).

In my case im not much of a know-more-at-the-shop guy, did most of my product analysis at home, so product knowledge of the salesman isn't very important. They have real friendly staffs excluding the auntie, always letting me and my gf play with the camera and testing it before any purchase and also offering some important advices too.

Competitive pricing, good location and the good food around makes the post-shopping trip happier :D
But its really short on popular stocks tho.

Think you meant Canon 450D and Nikon D90. ;)

Hi

I wanted to buy a D90 or a 450D. I went down to 2 16 and I found that 3 16 is the most friendly but I think other shops like Alan (just downstair) is also pretty good. Then again I do not understand why they do not have stock for D90 and has to wait so long. However, even though 3 16 charges slightly more than the rest but then again what is a 10 or 20 for the difference in service. The parking and ERP cost as much these days. Wanted to buy from 3 16, but ended up with Alan as I do not have a DSLR and do want want to wait for weeks.

But I think Alan is also quite good. One more comment MS colour at the AMK hub sucks but I have not visited the MS colour main office, I heard they are much better. (From my phone call with them it seem that they are better already.)

Just my take.

So far got my lens, filters, accessories from Cathay Marina.
Service wise i would say not bad.
I will do my research on the products specs and prices first.
Then go down to Cathay Marina to ask for the products.
The prices they quoted are around the same as posted in CS.
So just bought the products on the spot.

Whatever some of u said about John 3:16, I just got a D700 + 24-70 f2.8 + loads of accessories from Sam. Being in the service industry for years, I can tell whether they're sincere or not ... that's why I gave my business to them. Kudos! :)

Been to MS, AP SL (Regular there for years), Cathay ... these shops give good services too ... BUT depends on who you deal with. Maybe size of shops do count ... :)

Agreed. I will only only deal with Florence- Lady boss or Jackson in MS Color.
