It was the case for film.. But for DX, it has become a useful length.hmmm..
some people would say that 50mm is neither here nor there. i.e. it's too tele to be a wide angle lens, and too wide to be a tele.
i personally own a 50mm 1.8. haha. like the zero-distortion that it offers. heh.

well i always felt the other way, that the 50mm isnt so useful for the dslrs and its a beautiful focal length for a 35mm frame : )
Which range of prime lens do you own. To keep things simple, i have left out the specific model. Perhaps this would allow us to see which are the popular range of angles.

i think you're a bit confused, 50mm on a digi isnt 75mm , its actually 80mm but no focal length because the size of the matrice doesnt change the focal length but the crop , so you have a lens of 50mm with a crop of a 80mm lens.Why not?? at 75mm, I love it for pet photography...

at 1.5 x crop... how do you get 80 or even 85mm? :dunno: :think:
