Hi Ren_Hao

IMHO, go for what your heart tells you. Evaluate your needs based on level of importance (ie macro, potrait, sharpness, cost, etc).

I bought the 85 1.8 and love it for human shots. Though i am always moving back afew steps (due to crop factor), the results are quite rewarding compared to my kit lens. On the other hand, the crop factor is a blessing as my candid shots are more natural since i can be further away from my subjects. Being 1.8, it can be taken without flash for well lit indoors.

OT abit, another sweet lens to own is the canon ts-e 90mm. Despite being a manual lens, it loads packs of fun when u tweek the image as you turn the knobs and rotate the lens. This can be used for portrait, wedding, product, and also abit of macro (with extension tube). The nice part about tse is not about the sharpness, but how unsharp and blur it can get for areas to de-emphasize. With 8 aperture blades, the bokeh can be nice. I enjoy this for product shots instead of using the sweet spot zeiss makro.

Don't get me wrong, i am new here and am still an amature...:bsmilie: I need to learn more from all the "si-fus" here.

All the best to your search, ya.

i agree on the tse 90mm lens, i'm using it for weddings nowadays and my manual focusing speed is improving. love the defocsing and as a portrait lens, its very solid. Great for makeup shots and dinner when guests are generally not running around.
