Already got D100. Skip D70 and wait for D200 or D2X.

is the lack of wired trigger for the D70 a problem for shots like fireworks? read from Ken Rockwell (?) site that it supports only a IR remote trigger.

how much is the d70 right now :)

$2100. The price seems very controlled.

Even from various vendors ?? :what:

I am looking into vendors with extended warranty preferably.

Buy the D70. Wait for the D200. If D200 worth, sell the D70 and buy the D200.

If we are talking about now I would choose the D100.

erm.. none of the above ?? pay abit more and get a D2h ? hahahahahaha :bsmilie:

erm.. i think there will not be a D200.. cuz isnt Nikon announced that D90 / D80 will be the next generation of DSLRS to replace the D100 ? of cus D2x wil be coming out soon.. not so soon i gues.....

More than that, looking at the price of the bodies alone,

1x D2H = 3.1x D70

hahaha.. erm.. YA.. precisely.. to me.. its not abit too la.. but then... its really worth it lo.. eh.. we are talking about LBcast leh... and a almost perfect Dslr here... hahahhaa... and yar... Magnesium Alloy BoDY !! thats it !!

BulIt foR hEavY duTy de.... hahaha..

erm.. 3-3.4 times more la.... cuz now a grey set of D2h is $5k hahahahahaha

hey.... if i got the $ now.. i wld haf grabbed the D2h liao lo... still wait.. hahaha.. but no $$... pocket still bleeding.. now already recovering liao... 80% liao...

but hey... when the new cams come out.. the D100 will be first camera to be flushed out liao lo.... i think.. hahahah :) .. but hey.. D100 is a great camera... to me that is.. a buddy to me...

Quite risky getting D100 now coz anytime Nikon could lower the price or discontinue the product  (there goes your investment) . It's not that there is no alternative now or D70 under perform D100.

Seriously, I would ask anyone buying DSLR to get D70 now. ;)

i disagree with that .. and what does risky means ???

Get the IR remote trigger lor. Set to F13 or F16 and 4s to 6s and voila, you're in business for those fireworks. These days, it is almost wireless everything, from home phones to internet to TV to studio flash. Just set your camera and sit down to relax, watch the fireworks with your remote ready to fire. The cable release means standing there for the entire fireworks like half an hour.

BTW, the D70 has got what is important:
1 Buffer almost never fills up unless you machine-gun
2 Top notch high ISO quality with decent pic at ISO800!
3 Flash sync speed of 1/500 which many pro cam can't do

As for other shortcomings, you can always work round it.

yes i understand the battery grip thing....would have gotten one too....but i still bought the d70 in the end....the price is much better....haha....making do without the battery grip is about the only setback...

And I have just gone over the dark side... I bought a D70!! It's roti for me the rest of the year........

At least I can tell myself that I am saving on film and processing costs now.

$9 for the remote. Cheap cheap. :D The IR remote can also work in bulb. 1 press, shutter opens, another press, shutter close. Good for fireworks as you want to it to trip first when the shell goes up and you can see the trail up, then shuts when the thousands of burst incendary shells stop burning.
