Which brand sounds nicer to u?
That will be better brand.;)
Nik-On
Can-On

I like canon better - cos confirm Can switch On.

all the brands hav its own pros n cons be it nikon or canon.
there is no point asking this question as eventually u r gonna be the one using it.
most importantly, ask yourself these questions:
1) what are u gonna be shooting?
2) what functions do you nid?
as long u it can giv great shots and u r satisfied, hu cares what brand of camera u r using.

go and try out the cameras and see which one you like...
if you do not want to get third party lens, research on the lens you like to get and see which brand have what you want...

people ask Canon or Nikon and you guys talk about everything else? Is that helpful?

I used both before, got used to Nikon control so i stick to that. Canon have a few lens that cannot be found on Nikon system. Nikon can use old manual lenses if you are ok without the AF.

Nikon seems to have a better flash system. For me i prefer natural light and my bag already pack with lens so no more room for flash.

Nikon users still waiting for full frame camera, if you can afford then Canon already have a few.

what a poll, better in WHAT? dSLR, pns, lens, lens cap.....?

for sigma, even foveon x3 do have their own colour cast problem.
i'm not sure if it has been resolved in their new gen.

Actually we can't really make a comparision - apart from photographic equipment, Canon makes printers (which Nikon doesn't) and Nikon makes spectacle lenses (which Canon doesn't).

Canon makes calculators too.

Seriously! (USA Canon)

HP better. take pictures with HP camera, your model will look slimmer.

check it out

Canon. Get the Canon!

I say this because I use Canon and love it.

The Nikonian will say Nikon, but seriously, get the Canon. It is better.

Flamesuit on!
:flame:

jkjk.

budget how much u are willing to spend, what u want to shoot and look at the equiv Canon and Nikon systems. Have a play with them and u will naturally fall into one or the other (Canon) LOL

Dun waste time with the Canons and Nikons lah.

Go buy the hasselblad H1.

Go and try the 2 camera and get the feeling and you will know how to decide.. ;)

ok, thanks all, will get the canon eos 1d mrk III now...

Good quality lens aside, to me Nikon provides the possibility of having a long range zoom that covers from wide to tele:thumbsup: . I know 3rd party lens can be used for Canon...but hey what beats the original lens?;p

Ultimately is the photo that matters not the camera. People appreciate your photo, not what camera you use to take

Cheers

+1, you may have a good camera but you may not have a good picture.:)

There is no such thing such as which camera brand is better. It is up to the photographer to decide, and how the photographer use it to maximise its potential while avoiding its weak points.

You forgot to say that Nikon makes microscopes and Canon mades DV. But actually this is a consideration too. If a company makes more things that can use the same technology, then it can spread its R&D cost across the different technologies.

Btw, for those who have used both Canon n Nikon, is it true that Nikon has more vibrant/vivid colours? Or is it just the lcd? I've been curious about this for some time as I've observed that the photos taken on Nikon have very nice, saturated colurs on the lcd but Canon's colours are not as saturated on the lcd. Or is it something to do with the settings? Btw, I'm referring to Canon's amateur/enthusiast dSLRs. Their pro dSLRs have extremely good colours.

Well, you can compare with more camera that you can find. But the general consensus would be that the colour saturation may have been set higher on the Nikon cameras.

Prefer the LCD screen on nikons as they are much brighter.
