which M-mount film body has the best finder for focusing? would like to hear your view!:)

In my opinion, I find those Leica M bodies before the M5 very "big and bright" and it is really a plus for focusing.

Zeiss Ikon!

so far i hv used Bessa T before and somehow Bessa T is so much easier to focus as compared to epson R-D1s.

leica M4 looks interesting and so is Zeiss Ikon. think not easer to find one good condition M4.
btw, who know which shop is selling Zeiss Ikon in SG?

Zeiss Ikon!
I second this. The ZI has the biggest & brightest RF/VF so far (out of Leica and Voight.). The Bessa T has a wonderful RF but a seperate VF.

Leica M3

Faith? Certainly not experience. Next time you're in the shop take a look through the VF of a ZI. You might be surprised. No goggles required :p

Wat makes u so sure that it is not stated from user experience??

Tried the ZI @pro photo, bright with good contrast, but you have to centre your eye carefully for the secondary image to be distinct. (quite similar to that of Hexar RF and Epson.) No such issue for an M3 VF: bright, contrasty and totally flare-free, a dream to use for 50mm or 90mm, OK for 35mm, w/o googles :)

I vote for the Leica M2. Big bright finder, uncluttered viewfinders and easy to focus at any angle. My Bessa R2a finder flared out once I got to an awkward angle. Both are very good though.

why you sold off your M2? It is a good camera!:)

No $$ to maintain and get good lenses for it so I decided to plow the money back into expanding my Canon gear. But I shall return! It was a Leica that brought me into the world of photography so I'm definately going to get one, if only for old time's sake. This time, maybe with a summicron attached to it as well.. :P

anyone using ZI?:dunno:
I know 3 photographers in Malaysia who are. 2 are professionals, one a hobbyist. One of the professionals sold off a Leica m6 .85 TTL to get the ZI for the brighter and bigger VF.

Brought back a ZI recently from Nippon.

Yes, the VF is bright. Infact, super bright. I haven't tried a good condition/new M3 or new M7. So, I cannot compare who is better. I guess, no point comparing who is brighter, a new Leica might cause eyes to sparkle and hence perception that the VF is brighter.. ;p kidding please don't flame me.

But, I recently got a more than 40 year old Canon 7 serviced, surprising, the viewfinder is bright and pleasant considering the age and design of the camera.

If all else fails, my Bessa R4 with a 0.52x VF could win over the most discerning judges. At 0.52x with 21mm framelines, who can beat R4??? :bsmilie:
