Which Lens should i Get to replace my 18-55mm?

grats! i have the same too. really good lens. i rarely remove it from my cam body! i am thinking of getting the 24-105L for walkabout, but i will be missing my wide 15mm.
i got mine from JO @ 1080 last march. other places sell around the same range i think

Took me great pain to change from 15-85 to 24-105. But I'm happy to move on cause I did alot outdoor shoot. Range is very good on a crop camera.
Now saving up to get a 17-55 to complete my combo, hahaha.......
24-105 f/4 for outdoor walkabout lens
17-55 f/2.8 for indoor walkabout lens

Excellent choice! But that'd be expensive.

Just a noob question to the thread starter..

how did your 18-55 lens spoil ? as in fungus attack or you drop it .. ?

Almost got a used 17-40 L for my combo, but after some thought, decide to go for 17-55mm IS.
So need to extend my 'saving' mode till july.. Haiz......

canon 15-85 IQ is really good, minimal colour fringing, but some distortion, and 18-200 actually preforms better than i expected! distortion was just acceptible, but satisfactory, but the contrast is good and it covers the entire range. don't get 17-85. you should add the extra to get 15-85 if you are going to.

+1 for 17-55 f/2.8.. I'm going for it in next 2 weeks..

I bought it to canon customer service and they say the optical unit is spoilt..

hi guy me too gonna get this lens 15-85mm. So for protection what do u guys recommend.
cos i ve done lots of googling and most say that putting a filter will degrade the pics. since im already gonna spend moos on this lens i dun mind to spend on a good filter for protection. but bcos of the degrading part made me think otherwise.for me i can go without filter as i normaly provide tlc for the lens but since theres other users also using my cam i need that some sort of protection, so are there filter worth buying for protection or just loose the filter.

Get a B+W Filter if you can afford. UV Filters protect the lens if you are using in long term, whilst if you are those who change lens very often, then I think you can just loose the filter.

Putting on a filter will definately degrade the pics. But putting on a GOOD UV filter will degrade the pics LESS. Would you rather damage your lens? Anyway, the cheap filters will really kill your pics. Don't go that way.....Get at least the HOYA HMC super MRC or equivalent.
That said, night pics are better without filters.

got consider this?
Sigma 17-70 mm f/2.8-4.0 DC Macro OS HSM

new pdt, seems not bad

Hi bro, thanks for the inputs.. Clears my mind.. One more thing i might b going for b+w n hoya hmc as recommended. Which type should I choose. Skylight , uv or neutral. As in most recommended n popular.Btw is there really any significant diff effect n the least degrading iq between these three filter..thanks
