Screw the main photographer lah.. you got more "pro" gear than him. I think he see your setup he will begin to lose confidence.. :P
wat's wrong with the main photographer using less high end equipment than the other photographer?

The main photographer quickly call the couple to choose his photos before I finish edit and print my photos :bsmilie: .

Smart enough..., but I don't want to break his rice bowl  .

Wow... this makes it very interesting to see a comparison between the pics of the two photographers...

I once noted a wedding where the main photorapher used a 10D with a very used condition 17-40 f/4 and there were 3 other photographers with brand new 20D with all the L lenses and turned out the higher end equipments users were all at hobbist level and can't perform at all... none of them have pics that can be used...

So... what does this incident tells us?

The gear doesn't matter. A good photographer could use a disposable and churn out much better pics than someone using a D2X with pro nikkors.

usual candidates for weddings would include the following -

12-24, 17-35, 17-55, 28-70, 35, 50, 70-200, 80-200, 85, 105.

i'd personally go with a 17-55 ($2200) and a 85 ($630)... you can even have "spare change" to buy a backup body. ;)

The 18-70mm range is really good. Unfortunately, the kit lens I got was very soft at 18mm f3.5, which makes it unusable at all. I sold it off and hope to find a substitute soon... the third party lens are releasing the range and I'm eager to get it!

Hi Guys,

I have just gotten back from a long day meeting.
Seems like majority use the 17-55DX. I may try out wide angle ones too.
Thanks for the precious inputs.

To answer some, I am using the D70s with the lens kit. I found the lens kit is not too bad but lacking in terms of colour and contrast. THat's why the original thread.

One question-> Is it necessary to use a pro-body? My friend says my D70s is not good enough for serious full-day wedding event. We almost quarreled over dinner.... :)
My arguement is that for wedding event, there's little occassions that you need the pro functions. But the emphasis should be on the colour vibrant of the picture itself. And D70s is not a bad body isn't it?

My friend says the S2Pro or D100 is better than the D70s....
I am still quite new to digital SLR. Can someone verify?

Thanks again!

Hi,

Well.... 17-55 DX is really good for wedding....
It covers Wide Angle to Portraiture.....
Also, this fast lense can be used for shooting low light condition

I think it is really good enough....
Well, for me ........
D70s with SB800 is very good enough to take wedding pictures.....
I myself take friend's wedding shots with D70 too.....
so far I have not been dissappointed with the results.....

well....All the best for your wedding shots.....
Although it is tiring but it become really a valuable experience.....
experiencing all happiness & emotional

Have a good sleep !!!

Just one more question before bedtime:

Anyone here knows what kind of equipment kelvin from lightedpixel and tsangstudio use for full day wedding event?

Kelvin uses a 5D, 50mm, 135 f/2, 70-200 IS, 24-70L, 17-40L and some others.

kelvin is using canon and he has an arsenal of lenses... just go to canon website and u can see all the lenses he uses. ;p

*runs away from kelvin*
