How big a zoom you want? TZ3 is from 28-280mm. Compare this to its predecessor TZ1, it offers a WA but reduced zoom (TZ1 gives you 35-350mm).

You can also consider Canon now with its S5IS, Lumix FZ range or Sony. All big big zoom with acceptable PQ. Oly also gives you WA and 18x zoom, but heard its image quality is so-so.

Panasonic's image quality tends to be poor... Very sharp, but ISO noise even at ISO 100. Best to go with Sony, Canon, Nikon.

Thanks for the replies. He settled for the TZ3 due to the wide angle lens, big zoom and a small body size. Felt that the PQ was not bad and the colors were pretty vibrant. Price was right too.

The Canon S5is and Oly SP550 are nice, but are almost double the size and weight. Not exactly "compact".
