Oh wait..there is someone selling off their setup..
hahaha...

first i apologise for not answering your query and seems to be spouting nonsense in your thread....i would go for A640 with ikelite housing.

i 2nd that, heh... If not the G7/9 in an ikelite housing. the macro ability of the camera looks really good. pity about the battery life.

pardon me but whose battery life? G9 or the a640?

i'm looking out to buy a G9 with ikelite housing.. anybody knows where's the cheapest?

canon G9 THAT'S THE BEST!

oh i don't think you have to worry about the battery life for the A640, that runs on 4 'AA's so you can use more powerful 'AA's with that.

G7 supposedly has a battery life of 220 shots, according to a review. Not sure about the G9 but i'm pretty sure it's using the same battery so you might have to change battery after about 2-3 dives?

Thks for your recom, Iwas at H Norman, saw A570 on offer S$390, but this cam use 2AA bat compare to 4AA on A650. Housing available@S$380. Wat ur suggestion? Might consider f50fd, understand underwater housing not available yet. Thks in advance. :bsmilie:
need to get by tis weekend, diving next week.
Thks, to all reply and advise, appreciate it.

Suggest U go MS Colour at Ang Mo Kio. Get the Camera from them and demand a discount for the U/W casing. I got my casing for $285...... not the $380 as stated on Canon's website......

Also suggest u go for Canon's PowerShot A640...... I go a friend using this model, and so far not complaint. The whole package at that time, slightly below $900. Will be cheaper now.

Aim for a 4x AA batteries camera. Can't change batteries underwater  I still remember the 1st time I saw a White-tip Reef Shark........ my Ixus 400 die due to lack of power :(

Good afternoon all,
Thanks you for all the experience advise you all have given to me.
I went down to MS this afternoon, many cameras in store but most of them don't have underwater housing. Get some advise from the sale guy, finally got a FujiFlim f40fd with housing as recommemded by the kind gentleman.
Tonite will have to expore how to operate b 4 going underwater.
Once again, million thks to you guys:thumbsup:

For your info Fx33 have housing also but not sure when it is for sale. Canon 860 have housing also base on the forum.

Wait a while then you may have more choice.

Shocking? whats wrong with a fuji?

IMHO.. fuji has much better color then Canon
f40 Focusing is fast and rather accurate
the housing is better then canon's
it has SD/XD card slots
it has FD
it has better noise control

I would choose Fuji over canon anytime.

Anyway Congrats on your buy Sunnypub, remember, its not the equipment :) its the photographer. Remember to share your photos here! :D

Agreed my dear friend, it abt the person behind the equipment, but equipment do play a part too. So every advise and comment is important to me. I read and take it as a free lesson.hahaha no hard feeling
I've intention of getting a good housing for either my D70 or D80 in near future. Likely will be D70 as this camera have been with me since it launch. D80 is very new my son still palying with it. I'll get it once he pass his PADI. :)

Thks U. Last nite I try to take some photos with Fuji f40fd and compare with my D70,D80, Casio EXz750 and Olympus C9000. The out come not so bad, better than Casio and Olympus. Will try underwater next week:)
