rumours from friends here and there...

i've been using SCV cable for so long already...
think about 4 years... am a satisfied customer...:D

yeah quite happy...
I thought SCV was usin the STYX singtel backbone? or chged to starhub liao?

SCV bandwidth depends greatly on location. Those living in flats will have more complaints due to the shared bandwidth. For those living in houses, it seems to be the logical choice. Me and my other friends on landed property can get 200KB/s downloads on anyday by having multiple download streams.

Mmm...i think must one lucky guy den........

I get constant downloads near 200kbps ....or either that my neighbours dun subcribe to scv.....

For the record, singnet bb a bit cumbersome....

Dunno whether issit my friend or wat...but his connection gets cut off very often....

And also SingnetBB staff says that the usb modem they give along with subcription of BB plans doesnt seem to be compatiable with non intel chipset mainboards.......

Dunno true or not tho,....anyone can confirm?

Your friend most likely didn't install Micro Filters on all phone outlets. That's why get disconnected. As for ADSL not working on non-Intel chipsets, so far I haven't had problems with VIA chipsets and I've installed on 3 separated AMD PCs so far.

Hi camerakit,

So what the tech staff @ snbb said was kinda bs already rite?

What is a microfilter?

IMO, the free ADSL modem is useless. I would have to buy another one to use. Do not forget to factor in telephone line rental charges.

no need right? you could just use the existing line...

Microfilter is basically a high frequency filter or a low pass filter. ADSL uses the normal phone lines. If your phone is not connected via a microfilter when you're using the ADSL connection, you'll hear some noise.

BTW, the last time I used SCV, about a year back, downloads speeds can reach up to 200+kiloBYTES per second!

yeap it's around that, and that's about N times better than the singnet 256 i used some time back. crap, singnet download max 32 KByte/s can't stand it.

So far I using Singnet ADSL 512 Unlimited, dunno which one is good, but all Company paid, so whatever line also good la.....:D

I don't like SCV because it block most of the ports for download programs like edonkey and so on... i want to download movies and MTV for preview also cannot :(

for that, i am thinking of changing back to Singnet.. but SCV download can reach 1 over mbps, much faster then 512k adsl (which only reach 300+kpbs when i use it last time.. making it 1/3 of my current SCV, except peak hrs)

The program is not illegal, the download is but depands on what u are downloading...many are not.. like trailers and so on.. with so many users online sharing files now, don't tell me you never did anything illegal online.. ie downloading a website or any photos (such as a icon or a logo) is considered illegal too if u really go by the book.

afterall, singnet/pacnet does not block these ports... so such users still able to access.
