Which brand of tripod are you using?

:thumbsup: Cant agree more. Invest in a good 1 that can take on more load if you factor in the possibility of upgrading to bigger bodies or lens. It will last you for years.

i lost touch with their latest products... not that i need them.

so, i would think that a tripod is essential for most fotographers and u can't scrimp and save on essential fotographic tools.

thus, in an ideal world, the fotographer should go out and buy the best tripod he/she can afford. normally, this is the type of purchases that once you spent on a good tripod, chances are you do not need to upgrade/change anymore unless you outgrow what the tripod can offer you la.

I insisted on having a Manfrotto once, but i can onli afford the 190prob which is extremely heavy and bulky, but still i bought it. after few mths... finally i sold it off as its far too heavy to carry out. so i switch back to lighter alternatives lol. dont think i'll get heavy tripods anymore unless its used indoors for studio or smth lol!!!!!!!

Few weeks back, I was looking at Gitzo 1451T tripod, price for new one is 780.
After doing some research and look around, I settled for Sirui T-1204X + K10X set, which costs 350 (with free tripod bag). Specification wise between Gitzo 1451T and Sirui T-1204X are close. Perhaps you can go down to TK foto to take a look.

kwttan, hows your T1204X holding up your gears? does it seem "flimsy" and could topple easily? The legs seemed thin especially when compared to the T2204X.

Because i'm looking to get this as well, but have yet to go down to the shop to actually feel it. I'm using a 5dmkii and only for now just the 24-105. (the heaviest I forsee will be a 70-200 f/4 IS).

But will definitely visit TK in a few days time.

I have this set too, the T1204x is quite steady build, tripod weight 800g and Load 10kg. If I remember correctly, gitzo 1541T load is 8kg only. I just brought the tripod For night shoot at orchard last Sat, mounted with d700 and 24-120 f/4, so far no issue.

The k10 ball head load is 20kg, thus should not have issue with 70-200 lens.
T1204x and k10 are good combi, both add up 1.15kg.

Woah thanks so much Dynam0! That gives me much more assurance to go ahead with the T1204X + K10X! Saves me some $ as well. I've knee problem, hence every weight less is some pain less as well..

xhui, T1204x is current oos at TK, accompany my friend to buy last Fri, was told oos and new stock coming in 3-4 weeks time. Call first before you go down.
