Hey guys i am used a D90

intend to shift to FX body after sometime..

which 35mm should i get ? the DX or the FX version?

If you can get your hands on, the old Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 AIS is my recommendation :)
it's sharper than the f/2 at f/2 and also the 1.4 look is quite unique.
and yes, it's full frame lens
ps. take a look at nikon 35 1.4 group in flickr http://www.flickr.com/groups/nikkor35s/

Yes!

Nikor AIS Lens is MF with very good precession construction!

The AIS Lens from Nikor always produces better image quality than the AF Nikon Lens now a day we’re using!;)

If you talk about the Nikor 35mm f1.4 AI of the AIS version, every Photographer who use Nikor Lens know that this Beauty is one of the Best Nikor Lens line up!

There are rumours of an upcoming AF-S 35/1.4.

:o.... AFS motor on 35mm f1.4!!!

Cool...

Sure will be very costly like the Nikon AF 85mm f1.4D or more!

Hope that it is not a DX Lens again.

Actually, I hope that it will be a DX lens and the price will be low like the 35mm f1.8.. ;)

Hmm.. finally people see the usefulness of DX. I think for this, you'll have to stick with the 35/1.8.. which at this point in time I think the price is still bloated up pretty badly due to the low stock. Potentially, the price should not be more than $335.

There are rumours of an upcoming AF-S 35/1.4.

even if it comes out it will cost a bomb like the canon version.. at least 2.3k and above.
the 2nd hand AIS can be had for 500-800 depending on the cosmetic condition.
v good and solid lens.. I know alot of Canon users are using this lens with adapter on their 5D :)

HI,

but i found it AF 35mm f2D took at close up focus is just nice.

only at normal shots is not that nice..

it's some photo, when i bought my D700 for testing shot hehe.

I guess the main sticking point will be that 1 is a DX lens and the other FX.
If you intend to use this lens for a long time on your next FX camera, might as well bite the bullet and buy the 35/f2 now.
The field of view will be different for FX though, and I think 50mm on an FX camera will be nicer. That's one of the reasons why the 35/1.8 is so popular. Both have similar field of view.

You could consider the Nikon 35mm AIS f/2 lens (See Roslet's site for a review http://www.naturfotograf.com/index2.html), which is around the mid-$200 +/- range. I used to own the 35mm f/2 AFD but I still prefer the AIS version signature.

If you are serious about moving to FX then I would not make any major investment in the DX format.

Learning to focus manual lenses: Leave the camera on the table. Every time you have a break, or just walk by, grab the camera, snap a couple of photos and examine the photo (zoom into detail as close as you can). Check the focusing and be critical of how successful you were and how fast you took to take the photo. It will come, sooner rather than later.

hahahha negative example... that might turn a few people away from buying the 35/f2
The photo looks WAYYYYY soft. I think my D80 + kit lens can do better than that!

the 35mm f/2 is very soft.

try the 35mm f/1.8 for DX even if you're gonna upgrade soon,

cos it is very useful, and you yourself know if you need it or not.

sadly, nikon doesn't have primes like canon, (28 f/1.8, 35mm f/1.4)

so we have to make do with these.
