Which 25mm - Olympus or Panasonic?

Is that based on the f1.4 or AF speed in low light?

Not referring to AF speed in low light, though that may be important to you.

Was referring to the quality of the image in low light.

To each his/her own, I still stick to Olympus as I am very happy with its overall performance.

Price in HK for both are similar

my first try on Oly 25mm f1.8

I have not tried the Olympus, but I think that the Panasonic might be slightly better at AF in extreme low light, due to the larger aperture. From Robin Wong's blog, the Olympus transmits more light only in the smaller apertures.

any idea know what is the street price for 25mm f1.6 oly? thks

I can say the af of the panny 25mm struggles in low light. I would assume the Oly version would be better, at least on a Oly body.

Some 25mm Panny shots that I have on my old EPL2:

Day time. f/5.6 1/320 ISO200. Pretty sharp when you stop down.

Indoor Night. f/1.4 1/80 ISO 800. Pulled down the red curve a little.

Only had the Panny f/1.4 Leica for about a month, loving it so far. A tad heavier compared to stock lens IIR but light enough for me walk around with a hand strap.

I'll take Robin's review/comparison of the Oly and Panny 25 with a pinch of salt ... somewhere in his blog, he mentioned being an "Olympus Consultant". And yes, he is indeed often partial to all things Oly. It wasn't always like this, especially when he first started.

Anyway, my take on this issue. I find the Panny 25/f1.4 more contrasty and somehow the colours are more vibrant. I also prefer the low light bokeh of the Panny. Wide open it is a little soft at the edges and if pixel peeped, yes, you might see some CA and fringing. Overall, I still prefer the output of the Panny 25/f1.4 compare to the Oly 25.

The worst downside of it is when used with an Oly body EP3 and older - the dreaded "rattle". On the EP5 and Panny's bodies, no issue.

i preferred the image rendered by PL25/f1.4 over the O25/f1.8
however the oly25/f1.8 does focus slight faster and is more "pocketable"
