For camera, lens etc.....

Will be staying in Tokyo for a week hoping to cash in on a good deal.

Thank Bro.

yodobashi camera or BIC camera

despite what people tell you about Akihabara being the electric city, it's no point going there cause it's just many different smalls shops selling the same things.

Yodobashi has everything you could ever need with very helpful staff and a wide range of products (6-7 floors)

they have lens opened and on display for you to try with all camera bodies, without having to ask the sales people. IT'S JUST LYING AROUND! almost all lenses. So it's damn good to try and play.

take the JR train to Ikebukuro station.
Turn left at the main exit.
There you can find Yamada Denki & Bic camera.
Compare the price before purchase as price can be different between the 2 shop.
Also Yodobashi is nearby within walking distance.

Happy shopping!:D

I don't see what this has to do with Canon equipment specifically.

tell the mods to move the thread then... (If you're so peeved about it.)

on a seperate note,

my nephew's in Tokyo now, and told me that if you're shopping in Bic camera/etc, bring your passport and they'll knock another 5% off the listed price. Oh, and pay by cash, or they'll add 2% for credit cards.

They prices they have there are roughly the same for BHphoto.com.

I'm asking my nephew to get a 70-200 2.8 VR (Neeekon) for me, and the price quoted by bic camera was 205,000 yen. (1450$) usd i think....

Good luck!

yes it is.... well, at least if you're buying the big ticket items that is...

i'm not sure about the market prices back home, but i bought my 5d 1 year back for around 4300$ with a bic camera 5 year 1-1 exchange policy.

I guess it's worth it if you frequent here often as the lil nick nacks are indeed cheaper. (ie: BP 511as, L37Cs, etc etc... )

Whoops, this was in response to a post (that was deleted) about the prices in Japan being that much cheaper than singapore... never mind then. :)

Map Camera at Shinjuku, 5 mins walk from Yodobashi, is great too!

Hi am wondering if I could ask you to check on price of camera for me? will be heading to Osaka soon, intend to go to biccamera.

Check your PM pls.

so the warranty is international? i checked biccamera website, the prices almost a hundred dollars off for s5is

Was at Biccamera 4 hours ago. The rebates for some of the items can be as high as 15%.
DSLR not that cheap leh, but the compact cameras are really cheap. The D3 and D300 are more expensive than the rumoured launch price in SG.

An example is the Panasonic TZ3. I believe HN and Best Denki are selling it at $699. I got mine from US at $430. But, the same camera is going for only $390 at Biccamera.

Saw 2 new models from Sony which are not even available in SG yet.

Salesperson told me that the rebates can be used in-store only.....not too sure if they accept mail orders. Anyway, still have two more days in Japan to decide if I should get anything.
They have a exclusive line of designer Nikon bags which are made of fine leather and it is designed to be slim and compact even with a D200。

Get their microfibre cleaning clothes while you are there. 1000 Yen for a a 20cm by 20cm piece but it's well worth the money. Can't get stuff of similar quality here at that price.
