Where to rent a room/studio ?

Hi there,

I am looking for a room which is bi enough but without glass & windows to rent.

Basically, I want to do a video recording of a group (about 6 person) singing. I have 3 video cameras filming simultaneously from 3 different angle. Each singer will have his own mic. Each of the 6 mics is connected to my own audio interface which is in turn is connected by firewire to my laptop via garageband. The singers will sing with a karaoke instrumental which they can listen thru a headphone.

I will then later sync the video with audio recorded using Final Cut.

As you can see, I am only an ameteur in terms of audio. I don't need their audio equipment bcos I have my own. I need a room big enough because I need to video the whole group singing. The room need to be wide enough because I need to spread the 6 mic stand apart plus I need some distance away to place the video camera on the left & right end. The 3rd video camera will be from the front. Even though it has a wide angle lense, I still need some distance to be able to capture all the 6 singers.

Though not compulsory,I was also hoping if the wall of the room is an even color, there will be possibility of me using Final Cut Software or Adobe Premiere Pro to do a greenscreen affect where I can replace the background with some other scenaries.

Do you know where I can rent such rooms/studio without costing a bomb ? I only need a few hours to record the singing.

Thanks a million for your advice.

Cheers

To save cost. You can try jamming studios (but need to go at a very early timing so no one else is around). Those are cheap at $15-20 per hour.

Another alternative is those small scale recording studios with 1 or 2 rooms only. Sometimes you can get rent at $50 per hour and some even include recording of voice.

I've tried filming 6-7 ppl in studios with 24mm full frame and its wide enough even for small rooms.

Cheers

Thanks XsenseX,

I have visited a few jamming studios. Agreed that the cost is lower.

But I find their rooms are always too small & too dark. If you turn on the light (I need lights to film video), there will be shadow on the wall which makes greenscreen keying off the background difficult.

I actually prefer an empty room as I will be using my own mic, mic stand, my own simple audio interface. I don't need their bulky equipments but they are quite reluctant to move their equipments such as drums set & keyboard ... etc which are already properly wired.

Where can I find a cheap empty room with greenscreen facility ?

Alternatively, can you recommend a cheap photography studio ?

Thanks

Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a budget photography studio ?

Thanks

Try Camwerkz' studio. Its in commonwealth. b/g is a big enough cyclorama which you can key out. I think its 35-40sgd/hour.

Cheers!
