Where to get the best E-M5 deal?

Just bought the EM5 + 12-50 from TK today. 1725 cash price and 1755 if paying by credit card. Opt for credit card as I have the $80 credit promotion from Standard Chartered for two cards and split the payment.

is the $80 credit given to you coz you applied a new card online? or some other promotion?

It is their promotion for new card applications. There are some cards applicable for the promotion like the platinum and Manhattan. I was already itching to get the camera so I guess I will make use of this promo. Max two cards for a total $160 credit. Not sure if it is still going on.

So u paid $1755 - $160= $1595?

Guys, would buying the camera in Japan be cheaper??? I have a friend going over so I was thinking of getting her to search for it.

If based on exchange rate of 1000JPY to SGD16, it will cost ard $1870 in Japan, for a cam that is not made in Japan.

seems like hidalgo (phil), or silenation.com is still the best deal

Thats provided u can get someone to buy it direct, hand carry/ship it back to u. Silienation charges 4,500 pesos for shipping to Singapore via UPS, wiping out a large part of whatever savings u can get. Factor in GST and its really not making any sense!!!! On the other hand, i was quoted SGD1,699 for the camera with the 12-50mm kit lens from a shop at the ground floor of Funan Centre. May be worth checking out if anyone is interested.

Which shop is it?

How is this a good deal? U are getting the 14-42mm MkII lens instead. Factor in GST, postage and actual conversion rate (i think u are estimating on the optimistic side! Total cost to u should be approx SGD1580+), u might as well get your camera in Singapore. Besides, its out of stock and back ordered with no estimation on the arrival of new stocks.

I think this is the best deal right now

USD 1099 = S$1394

add gst @ 7% = S$1491 plus delivery maybe $50 via vpost

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Digital Camera - Black w/Olympus 14-42mm Zoom Lens V204041BU000

Would probably have gone for this if I'd seen it earlier

Cant recall the name but i believe there's only ONE camera shop on the ground floor.

I think that is the shop selling the photography books? There are no other photography-related shops on ground floor.

No, not that one. Its a new shop, located near the Pasta eatery if i'm not mistaken.

Guys

Go to Olympus Singapore and trade in your old Olympus camera for a OMD (with kit len 12-50mm) at $1539 GST included and free 16g CF card. Body alone is $1214.

I think this is the best deal out there if you have a old Oly camera to trade in.

Cheers
