where to get polaroid cameras?

you mean its really complicated to modify the sx-70? i read through this site http://www.chemie.unibas.ch/~holder/SX70.html and its really quite useful. It teaches you how to hack into your sx-70. The 4X5 polaroids are quite ex lah. :/

the 690 can do manual exposures too? initially i tried to get the really old land cameras, but then those are tricky because sometimes the film back doesn't support the 4X5 polaroids. PLUS, it doesn't take up all the 4X5 space, so in a way its like quite wasted. then i chanced upon the sx 70, but yes, i get sniped all the time. i always lose out by seconds. dammit.

grrrr..... they're super fast. i just don't know how they do it.

I bought 2 SX-70s from ebay.

I haven't had much luck at all. One kept going on long exposures no matter how much I turn the dial and the other just didn't work even though it was mint on the external.

I brought it to The Camera Hospital and Steven can't really fix them.

You may have better luck. If you get a real nice working one... then it's really fun. If not, everything else is just a pain. Even the Polaroid company here doesn't seem to be in existence, their website is a pain to navigate and there's really nobody you can turn to for repairs.

Be prepared to spend lots on film also. Cathay is selling the 600 film at 20+ for 20 exposures. The graphical quality of it is great though.... if you can go pass all the hurdles.

Mm... S$20 + for 20 exposures? You're kidding right.. Cathay as in Peninsula's Cathay Photo? I got mine for S$34.

the sx-70 mod is really quite easy to do.
even for me, i suck at modding, i can do it with success :sweatsm:

get the SLR680 (a older version of the 690) if u dont want all that hassle. takes 600 film immediately and is also a land-polaroid, exactly like the sx-70 and all it's variations.
to be exact, its similar to a Sx-70 Sonar. if ur interested in viewing, u can join one of the outings i can show it to u.

manual exposure is really just...manual focusing if you wish and turning off the flash.

got an extra sx70, dunno if i should sell it off. Quite lazy to mod it electronically instead of sticking a nd filter on it.
Any suggestions. sell or keep! i am eyeing the 680/690 which I can never get!

hard to get cheap film. the most u can save is around 2-3 dollars.

There's no cheap film for polaroid here, even the last time afew of us buy direct from distributor also S$30+. The most expensive I bought was S$39, cheapest is $32, but thats because I bought quite afew packs.
