Where to get darkroom prints done?

I'm quite interested in printing some photos on real photographic paper. Setting up a darkroom at home seems possible but I think I'd rather explore the possibility of someone doing it for me for now, just to see if I like the results. Any ideas? any DIY ways?

Safra has darkroom facilities. Google to find out how to get in.
I'd suggest using Safra first before you dive into setting up a home darkroom. The cost of doing it right can add up to a fair bit, and you may lose interest after a while.
Set mine up for about just under $1k, including blackout curtains etc, and while I like the thought of being able to print 'anytime', the reality is that work and other priorities get in the way.

How true is that... :)

I've not printed in my darkroom for more than 1/2 a year... :embrass:

Sure it was fun at first, but after a while practicality sets in...

My darkroom is now my storeroom.

But would any of us consider selling our enlargers, trays etc..? Nope!
Because we all think that eventually we will have time..

Nothing beats the smell of rodinal or the swishing of chemicals on a rainy afternoon when the kids/wife's out.

however, i moved away from it all and went for a coolscan + 4880. Yup, feeling's different, but it's slightly more practical, at least in my household.

+1. They have really good facilities and tutors. After that, if you really have the money and the space, go ahead :)

I did some silver prints through Ruby Photo a couple of years back (they sub out to someone). Not sure if they still have this, but be prepared to pay for it.

Alternatively, Objectifs do have a wet darkroom. Check them out.

I checked out ruby, about $12 a 8x10 print. haha.. I not so sure la.. I'm definitely not going to setup my own. Its impractical. I love dev b/w though, its easy and very fast.. I can even do it while I shower. hahaha.. Thanks for all the help! incidentally my bro also mentioned safra facilities just this morning.

well, after some dogging/burning, you can see the difference between inkjet and bromide paper.

Check out Ruby. The prices are pretty reasonable. 4R for $2. Takes a week. Did an 8R for $20.

Fee Fee might still do it. Hong Lim Complex, Blk 531 #01-01. Directly facing Upper Cross Street but they are hidden by the construction hoardings.

The problem with having someone else do darkroom print is that then you are still stuck with the problem of getting the exact exposure/development that you want.

Thanks for all the help! I just like the qualities of a darkroom print I guess, no other real reason. If I could get a good print on fibre paper and it doesn't look digital, I would! haha.. I heard there are machines that can do darkroom prints. Interesting

Fee Fee still doing darkroom print at $1.50 (correct me if I am wrong) for 4R print.
