Hey, guys,

Some of you probably already knew that I'm planning to set up a darkroom in a warehouse. To keep the cost down, I'm trying to get used equipment as much as possible - to keep the cost down of course. In particular, I'm looking for:

  • A stainless steel water trough. Something like this, this, or this.
  • A workbench, something like this.

If you happen to have one that you are looking to dispose, or if you know where to get these used items at a low cost, please drop me a note!

Thanks!

there are many shops dealing with new and used stainless steel kitchen equipments, along Serangoon Road, Geylang, and some HDB industrial parks.
you can find sinks, workbench etc from there.

hope this help.

you can try Eunos Ind Estate near Eunos MRT, there are a few there selling 2nd hand stainless steel tables, wash top, etc.

Hey, guys, thanks for the leads! I will have to do some shopping then!

Hi losheng,
The work bench picture link that you provided is very nice, if you wouldn't mind a hawker centre counter top thingie, try these few shops with new and used stuffs, on mainroad along geylang east ave 1, there are a few shops there. I bought 1 sometime ago, should range around $180 to $400. Good luck.

Hey! Thanks for the information! $180 to $400 is a great price. I went to a stainless steel fabrication factory and asked about custom making a trough to place the development trays - and it cost a whopping $1,650! Well, in the scheme of things, these troughs last a whole lifetime, but cash-flow wise is painful, because there are other fittings that I need to spend on the darkroom, such as the aircon and water piping.

edit, item sold

Hi, thanks everyone. It took me quite a bit of shopping around, and I've finally found a stainless water basin, and a stainless coffee making top (to put the trays on). These pieces aren't cheap at all! Quite a bit of investments, but the darkroom is slowly coming into shape. If you are interested, please see the following thread:

[h=1]Any darkrooms in SG for rental and to print images from MF negs?[/h]
I've also committed on a workshop workbench from Fami to put the 2 enlargers on. But I can still do with more worktop for lightbox and workarea. So, crystal7, I'll get in touch with you. Thank you!

I have a purpose built enlarge table with 2 light proof draws plus the rest of my dark room from enlargers thru grain focusers, contact printers, to trays for 8x10's (tray is 12 x 15) to washing trays 20x 16. Call me 9800 3996
