Hi, anyone knows where is the cheapest place to replace the light seals of a canon ql17 GIII?

You can DIY.

Here's what I did.

Tape up the lens part so that not much dust can go in.

Start scrapping with toothpick and Goo Gone (available at DIY shop like homefix) main thing is not to scratch away the black paint on the case.

Sliced the foam to size and length.

The foam i got it from Popular bookstore. CHEAP.$3.20 for 10 pieces.

Wow, thanks for the info! Didn't think it could be done DIY. Heard about camera hospital so I sent it in for servicing and at the same time change the light seals. I'll try DIY another time On another camera if I come across sticky light seals again.

Btw, how do you change the light seals at the joint of the camera? It's like hidden behind a metal piece that holds the cover together with the camera when the cover is open!

Great Job sir!!!...thx for sharing

I use a pincer to remove the gunk as much as possible, cleaned it up and cut a thin strip of foam and slide it in. I used 2 pincer to position the foam in place before sticking it down.

thank u maxwinamp for sharing!:)

Thanks for sharing.

since this is for film camera, place it at SLR and Compacts will be more appropriate.

I use black coloured felt bought from Art Friend. Less stress on the doors
