erm, can explain abit on how you use it on the filter? any combination I can think of will pull the front element off together with the filter :bsmilie:

Hey bro, try this... It works for me. Get those thick styrafoam. The kind u get in a box when you buy stuff. Place it on the ground, press ur lens (mounted on cam) on the foam. The filter will sink into the foam and will provide a good grip. Press firm downwards and twist ur cam. Filter will be loose. Try not to pry or use tools on the filter to prevent warping. This method is safe and effective.

I always remind myself not to screw the filter too tight. As long as it's screwed in, should be fine. Better to lose a filter than to lose a lens.

Gd luck bro... =)

That's if it's not a CPL:bsmilie:

It works on Cpl also... Fyi. Tested, worked...

The real sh*t is when u stack filters(nd and cpl.. etc)

The filters will be free from the lens but its a pain to separate them...
PS: for cpl, apply MORE pressure... the good old rubber band will be handy (so it doesn't rotate...lol) =)

Yes there is, its called a filter wrench. However, a rubberband is a way cheaper option

I went a lot of shops to ask for filter wrench and the salesmen were like huh?..

You could buy filter wrenches off Ebay for not too much money. Just do a search. For CPL, although the top and bottom halves could rotate independently, you could always run a round or two of tape to hold the 2 halves together and then try any of the methods already described above. If a particular filter always get stuck, check the threads for dirt (on filter and lens too). Blow away the dirt which could increase friction. You could also apply a *light* coat of oil or lubricant to the threads of the filter so it would come off easily the next time. Clear silicon-based oil (also used as baby skin moisturiser) would also work. Prevention is better than cure. Do your proper gears maintenance :bsmilie:
