Where to buy still life tables?

Which shop should i visit to check out those still life tables that has a curved white backdrop? And what kind of prices should i expect for a small sized one?

Yes it is ex. Don't expect $100-$200 FYI. Set aside 1 grand, even for a small model. Cheapest I've heard of is about $400 and it wasn't very good.

Looks decent! The website is local one? Safe or not one, the currency there "Singapore Dollars" also spelt wrongly.

The "small ones" aren't still life tables. A still life table looks like this:

The "small ones" you refer to are called portable product lighting kits or "studios in a box". They come with light fixtures built in and are mainly for jewellery or small objects.

Best if you get a majong paper as backdrop is cheaper and use studio lighting or flash as your lightings.

From what I gather, you'll be better off with a light tent. These cost under $100. U can make your own but the commcerial ones are more convenient.

Light tents will do the trick and they're far easier to light than still life tables, which usually require fish fryers as main lighting. They are also cheaper than product lighting kits.

Er no... those are custom made lacquered trays from Japan...

Light tents come with velvet backgrounds which are non reflective, but also not very good. They attract a lot of lint which shows up in the shots. This is the main disadvantage of light tents... which is why Pros prefer still life tables... the sand blasted plastic sheets are easy to keep clean.

However I find the overall cost of a light tent + accessories much lower than still life table + accessories. For a light tent, you can use the normal dedicated flash to illuminate the subject... whereas for a still life table you'll need a large soft box, which means investing in professional studio lighting.

Light tents are also quite idiot proof and allow you to shoot in small confines (like HDB flats etc). Still life tables require a little more space for the whole set up (like an empty room for optimal results) and require more a lot more experience and knowledge in lighting to produce decent shots.

with regards to arto's post,

the office equipment store on 2nd floor of funan sells a light tent like construction with a blue backdrop. Think they have 3 sizes, ranging from ard 120-200SGD i think.
