Hi
Can anyone recommend me shops in KL that are reasonable & reliable to buy Nikon lens?
I travel to KL very often so must as well check out the prices there and if I can save a few bucks why not.

Thanks

Hi,
Definitely not in KLCC :P

I asked the price for 18-200 VR and a shop (in KLCC) quoted RM2899 but when i asked another shop in KL area (Bintang Maju chain) it was only RM2600 but of coz both of these shops doesn't have stock for it, have to order it...

hope this helps, do keep me posted on other prices or other recommendation

Take the MRT to the next stop from KLCC, a station called AMpang Park. There are a bunch of shops over there but I dont trust them too much, except for this shop on the first floor (british system, ground floor, first floor) of this Ampang Park Shopping Centre. When you get out of the MRT station, the shopping centre is just there staring at you. Not that modern place. When you take the escalator to the first floor, there's this little booth on the right of the escalator. The guy manning the shop is someone called Jeff and I find him friendly, and he doesn't inflate the price according to what you look like (like what most shops do).

Oh, and once you get to know the guy, I think you'd rather stick to him.

Hi, I'm from KL. I don't know why you'd want to buy lenses in KL because I reckon prices for lenses are cheaper in Singapore. Thinking about buying 2nd hand lenses from Singapore myself. :bsmilie:

Anyway, in case you really want to have a look around,

you could try:

1) Key Colour at Mid Valley.
2) YL Camera in Pudu Plaza.
3) Sungai Wang / Low Yat area has a few photography stores (though I don't know what their pricing is like)

If you like, you could try Photomalaysia and MIR for some 2nd hand gear.

Thanks......the price is slightly cheaper by max S$100. i go there often so many just want to buy some stuff there.

YL camera is quite difficult to get to if you dont have a car, but I like that guy. That's about the only proper 2nd hand camera equipment shop I can think of in KL. And he can even repair stuff for you.

I've not done comparison for lens prices for some time, but I'd reckon that with the 7% GST next year in singapore, it might suddenly be cheaper in Malaysia!

well, if you need help with going anywhere, just pm me, buy me a drink, then i'll bring you there.

if you know what you want, better still, i can call and order for you in advance.

When you are in KL, take the LRT to the stop known as Taman Jaya. As you walk out of the station you see a building with its name "AmCorp" on top of it. It is a shopping mall cum office block. Enter it and look for the shop "J-One" on the ground floor.

You will be greeted by its owner Jason. They are authorised Nikon dealers and their prices are the cheapest in town. Certain expensive lenses may not be available on the spot though. Call Jason 012-2892858.

Tell him Francis recommended you. I may get a free lens cap. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:
