Hi, just a not very relative question. where to buy mini dehumidifier and what is the usual price?

Please note that this is not dry cab.

Yes,
this type of dehumidifier i want. thanks!

Where did you buy it and how much is it? Is it effective?

http://www.way-technovation.com/

very effective and depends much on the environment. Water collected more in cool/air room.
Auto stop about 8hrs or full tank is collected. Will be good you connect it with a hose of the size of washing machine to a man-hole and no worries of the drainage or leak! I dont remember how much? between 300-500 S$.

The one that I am using is by General Electric and another by Panasonic... they are generally about $500 and above

The title should change to "Room dehumidifier"... .

Regards,
Arto.

It is quite expensive. I want even smaller and cheaper one to just dry cabinet. Do the common shops(i.e. plaza etc) sell these kinds of machines?

hi freecloud.. hmmz.. i saw a mini dehumidifier at quite a "odd" place few weeks back.. haha.. don't know if its the type you looking for.. you can take a look http://coop.nus.edu.sg/adverts/promo/2006/Dec2006.jpg

Its around $99, at NUS co-op at Central Forum (a "bookstore" beneath Central Library).. well if you cant find it elsewhere you might wanna check it out...dunno still got stocks or not though... but i am guessing those DIY stores (self-fix, home-fix etc) might sell dehumidifiers too....

Hi, thanks very much for your information. This is what I want and I bought one this morning from the NUS co-op.

Hope it will be helpful to remove the humidity .

This is indeed quite useful. I also have a problem of mold in the house - too many wooden cabinets :(
I have been using those Thirsty Hippos. They are quite useless - and expensive too.
Looks like the Olee Petite needs a power supply - so you can't probably keep this device inside cabinets, right ? You will be keeping this in your room, I suppose.
Can you please use this and post here as to how long it takes to collect 250 ml of moisture ?
At times I travel for 3-4 weeks at a go and curious if this will work for me OR I should be buying one of those 35 litres or a couple of 16 litre dehumidiers and attach a drain pipe.

Thanks so much.

I studied the machine for a while.
According to the manual, at 30 degree, relative humidity 80%, it will take 24 hours to collect 250ml water.

If you need to go out for 3-4 weeks, you should be able to easily DIY a drain pipe.

For a small room such as 10 squre meter, it should be effective. I have to try it in my room. You can also put it into cabinet and it just need a small gap to get the wire into the cabinet. For large space such as dining room, this one is too small, you probably need to buy a large dehumidifier which has a compressor.

My advise to you is to get a 20 to 35 litre per day machine for your room (about 200 square feet with a 10 ft ceiling) and seal all gaps of the window and door frames when you are using it. Also switch on a small fan at slow speed to circulate the air in the room. Set the humidistat to about 50 % RH at ambient temp. That should do the trick. The Olee Petite is too small for a room in our climate. Take it from me, I did this for a living once. (Dehumidifying homes and storage areas.)

Happy New Year

Thanks freecloud and ronang for your very useful replies.

I'll look for those 35 litre models at a DIY store.
Hope they don't cost a fortune :(

$500-$900 for the Amcor and Novita ones.

Sorry to OT, talking in terms of Thirsty Hippos, Seems to me that the agent will only stop working when the water collected touches the drying agent. I am thinking that if I drill a hole, and drain the water out every now and then, does it lengthen the product life?

Oh, in this case, it will work forever. :bsmilie:
