The prices at fotographix are towards the very high side. There are no shops that sell M42 lenses cheap in Singapore. Normally I get mine from overseas, which are often very much cheaper, with shipping charges included.

ebay is best, or else eBay germany.

hmm how reliable is buying from ebay?

i've heard some horror stories of lenses in poor condition, not assembled properly, leaking oil, with melted coatings or jammed apertures...tt sort of thing. is that a common problem?

Not really ..... the only leaking oil M42 lens I had brought was from a fellow CS member ......... all the rest that are brought from Ebay has absolutely no problem at all ...... :D

Actually I've bought some CZJ P6 lenses from him. Price is a little steep but I suppose that's the market.

Anyway, what I think he needs is laxative. That would put a smile on his face once he gets what's bothering him out of his system.

Agreed ... once i enquired about a new bessa r2a and the lucky chinatown shop quoted me $200 more. I managed to get it from Joseph Yao at the end, and it was delivered with 3 days.

hmm bessa, who's joseph yao?

I think many people have a wrong impression of Mr Wong from Fotographis. He a nice guys only will open up if you been his shop for afew times. He hate one timer that out to get "good price". You will get good price M42 lenes from after he knows you. I been buying from him many years ago. He is an interesting fellow, a directory of greman optics and cameras  . Ask him any thing gremany made photographic equipment he will tell the head and tail of it. :D Otherwise if you are willing to take a risk for cheap M42 lens then ebay it is.

Who will still go back for second time if the first experience is not impressive? Plus higher price.

Same like shopping at SLS, I had no choice but to buy from them cos they are selling cheap. Or else I would just go to any neighbourhood shop.
