Where to buy cheap and good and bright video light?

Please warn your clients about the use of video light. I personally find the harsh video lights very disruptive to wedding or commercial events, use only when agreed upon and no choice.

There was this wedding that I attended, where the couple planned some fancy lights for their walk in which paints the bride's gown in various nice colours. I was REALLY early, so I saw that during the rehearsal. But when the actual walk in happened, the videographer shot his very bright video light and washed the bride in blinding yellowish light, spoiling the whle thing. She was VERY upset and I saw her wiping tears during dinner... so much for video lights.

Best to check beforehand.

she sees the result during the dinner??? the Videoman is fast!!!, but I think she maybe emotional during the wedding event... For a video light to crash the wedding, frankly 100W abit difficult, unless the videographer is only 2 metres away from her. Which I think its not possible unless the videography is going all out to sabo... hahahaha

i was thinging if possible to make own video light or nt...using led...where as most video like is tungsten light..

Thats' not a bad idea, LED uses less energy... but must use good diffuser, as LED lights is very concentrated, may cause some discomfort to the eyes.

LED Lite Panels are already available in the market, not sure whether in Singapore, but in States, yes.

www.litepanels.com

Pro: Cool lighting, bulbs are not hot, battery last a longer time then Tungsten.

Con: Hell, they cost a bomb too...

During rehearsal, patterns of coloured light appeared on her gown, during her march in, bright video light on her gown, I don't think see even saw the final video.

Yes, video man was near, and if video man was far, video light would not have been bright, anyway.

It is not about being there to sabo. It is the preparatory work. For examples, there are churches which forbid the use of flash during the solemn and serious service period of a wedding. Photographers must be told about that. Videographers should also be sensitive.

I am not against video light, but highlighting that videographers with lights should be sensitive to client's needs.

Another example: in a dim dinner room, the wedding videographer walks over to some dinner guests. When he tries to catch some 'background chit-chat' or 'guests interaction' he turns on his bright lights and blinds a few people looking at him. That's not very nice, isn't it?

Looks like the videoman is abit kiasu... blast and shoot, just like some photographer, uses flash like no need batts...

Oh yes, using video lights needs some experience and skills, blast and shoot types are truely kiasu factor...

My feel of using video lites are per deem, if you think that's a need, then use. No point walking around leaving it "ON" the whole day, pretending to be a mobile lampost.

As for the incident that you have experienced, it's very much a debate based on people to people. Videocam needs a larger aperture to capture against that of your DSLR. Most camcorders states it's Min Lux, but in real life, the videocam will never work in those lighting condition. You'll either get a super grainy footage that your client thinks that you may have used a VHS camcorder or a Hi-8.

Minimum extra lumination is needed for the video colours to work, especially in ballroom condition, unless your client is into Black Hawk Down style, shooting their wedding video in, Green-Black, Infra-Red Night Shot mode. Not very pretty to me...

There are many different types and classes of LEDs some of which have inconsistent colour temperature. Do your research well and if the product is good, count me in as a customer:D

very good try.. customise your housing with a hot shoe mounting and u are almost ready!!

anyway..
what is the colour temperature of the LCD bulb used?
how many watt did u used?
runs on wat batt?
how long the batt can last on full charge?

maybe u may want to do a try on tat too as it is rather important to know when on shoot. :)
