Make sure you know your cameras before you go. If not, stay away. You're better off buying from Courts then.

You got ripped off at both places? (can't be for a single purchase!)

I'm guessing you got ripped off at the Peninsular outlet.

Including shipping, the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 is about SGD$595. Why are they quoting me 800+?? Dun make much sense to me.

harvey's price is relatively OK.... actually is Canon's list price and u shld pay lesser lah.

Dry cab would be good, but not a necessity.

They should couple each pkg with a CF 1Gb card, camera bag, and lens WB (very good reference).

That would cost about 1400. and that is a safe price to pay. Just ask the Cathay Photo people to quote you ard that price. Ask for a tripod if they refuse to budge (SLIK is good) or throw in a 50mm f1.8. I suggest buy a body and get a EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM. Good IQ, lovely focal range, and very worthwhile investment. (can skip the 16-35/17-40/24-70/24-105 L lenses, which cost minimum of 1k...)

I was just there at MS Color a few hours ago. The guy quoted me at $1480 for the kit. Comes with 1gig CF and EOS book.

i got my 350D from parisilk.

i like parisilk, u cannot bargin with them but the the prices are ALWAYS very fair. you can just walk in and buy, and feel 100% safe. they are usually very crowded so u might not get as much attention as you want, but if you already know what you want, just go in and bbb.

ive been ripped off by cp in peninsular plaza before. their service didnt strike me as stellar either. :thumbsd:

Does anyone shop at Parisilk? I always find they have very good prices (always cheaper than Harvey Norman, Courts, etc.). I find Cathay to be a bit expensive but their service is very good.

Parisilk is an electronics shop and not a camera shop so you need to know what you want and need to know about your product before you go in. Still, if it's price you're after, I've always received the best price from them.

You can do a search for them, they have a website. They'll give you the price on the phone as well, which I find a lot of shops in Singapore won't do (for whatever reason). Few locations around town.

Er..because I stay near Bugis (take 1 bus can reach liao) that's why I often buy thing at Alan Photo. My friend recommended me there because good stuff. I alway go for quality ontop of price (of course must be reasonable to my budget).

I helped my friends (different friend lah) to buy about more than 10 PnS cameras there. Myself bought 30D and S3 for my brother there also.Normally we have to bargain quite a lot..They often quote much much more than the usual price.

I do realise that they will sell to you at the price of market (can find from internet and ask people arround) if you know the price (of course) and good bargain skill (which I am quite bad at). I found out that I often have to buy about S$30-S$40 higher compare to the normal price. But my friend goes there could get the cheaper S$30-S$40. Don't know why my bargain is that bad.

Until the time I bought my 30D. Hmm..They smoked me a lot..

At first they asked me want to buy or anot and ignored me..Hmm..Then hor each of sale-person give me different price. A guy told me $18xx, another guy told me $19xx and then a bitch suddenly come tell me $20xx. Hm..I was smoked by them leh..Then finally, I came to down talk to the guy tell me $18xx, then he transfered me to other guy and that guy told me $18xx is without GST, so must include GST more..Damn them..At the time that guy talking to me ah, the bitch also nagging that the price must be $19xx, if I don't want to buy then go lor..Bitch..1 person beat, the other confort me. ..

That time I need cam because I went oversea. Peiseh need to bargain again down to $18xx with GST. Hmm..that day I quite regret buying there because hor..I was in the rush, so still buy it at high price . My friend said can bargain more..Stupid me..


About few weeks later, when I came back, I went to CP. Walao ask them what the price for the flash. They quoted me only $5 higher compare to the price market. So honest are they..So I only pretended to ask again what is their best offer: they really deduced down $5 and talk very very nice too me and some more I can pay by any credit card, nets or cash. So I did not hesitate to take the flash and some other thing..

May be I was lucky on that day at CP but I ' m really satisfied. So I will continue to buy at CP. I have not try other stores yet but for sure 100% wont come back Alan Photo..

I got mine, Kit and body from Oracle 2 months ago. got it at $1280. come with the lens work book and 1 GB SANDISK CF card, compliments from canon. I am comfortable dealing with him. Honest guy who actually took the pains to show me how to operate the camera and how to use the white balance filter.

Went AP to get my digi cabi ... maybe the store was too crowded. the salesman there were either busy talking to their other customers or simply bo chup me...
