Can anyone please tell me where can I batteries for Canon A1 ?
Model = 4LR44

Canonet QL 17
Model no: I dont know. Voltage = 1.35V

Thanking all in advance.

It is very difficult to get 4LR44 now. U can try using 4 pieces of LR44 cells, but u will also need a steel/copper spring to make up the space as 4 x LR44 is shorter than 4LR44. I last found these at Home Fix DIY in Sembawang Shopping centre, but watch out the expiry date.

I've had trouble finding them too, look around those small photo shops sometimes they might have.

But be warned, just like what fuwen said watch out the expiry date!!

You can try mustafa, they have a wide range of batteries there. Try the counter at B1 below the jewellery dept.

If they dont have it, you can always get them online.

A quick google search shows they are still selling at many places.

you can use 4*lr44 button cell batteries. use scotch tape to keep them together and aluminum foil to fill up the extra space.

as for the cannonet, its a Varta 625 battery you re looking for. you can find it, sim lim tower basement battery shop, or ruby photo(saw tehre, but not sure if they still stock) but you can also get a LR44 and put card boar around to make it fit in the hole.

Hi,

You can get 4 LR44. To make up for the remaining space, use 5-cent coins.

There is a shop at the basement of Sim Lim Tower that sells mainly batteries. I bought a 4LR44 battery from them recently for my AE-1. Hope this helps

got mine either from ruby or sim lim for my autometer IIIF

Thanks a million to everyone who posted . It is a great help. Thank you again................

Ben , one question. By using one LR44 battery = 1.5V , does it affect the metering?????

4LR44 = 4 x LR44 = 6V 1.5V << 6V cannot la

Fuwen, tq . I forgot to explain the Model of camera . I just bought a Canon FT SLR. It uses one piece of 1.35V battery. Question is whether the metering can be perfect if I use a 1.5V LR44.

haha sorry, u have actually 2 types of battery in question but my mind set at the 4LR44.

Maybe somebody who has used a FT will know. My personal experience is it is camera body dependent. My Rolleiflex SL35 has obvious metering issue with 1.5V button cell. But my Rollei XF35 can take 1.5V and metering seems OK though it is supposed to take a 1.35V cell. But there are also people saying that 1.35V mercury cell the voltage fall off is more stable and thus ensure a stable metering on those cameras, whereas alkaline 1.5V cell the voltage change is larger and thus may cause metering errors over time.
