There are many things the 7xxx series can do that the 5xxx series cannot do.

Would rather pay the extra price for the assurance!

Would u pay $200 more for grey set with shop warranty or $350 more for new set with local warranty? But $500 more can get brand new D7100 grey set. If I want 24 mths 0% installment, I can get at around $750 more. Very dilemma.

Now I just hold on to the launch of D9300 first then decide.

You have so many equipment in your signature. Why do you still want to pay by installment? Why not sell some cam bodies and buy the cam you want.

True, but also true that D5300 has some things over D7000; Like better ISO performance, higher MP & better video. I only pointed out the D5300 because it's newer, more easily available, the prices are similar & there's a lot of comparison between these 2 online.

If D7000 and D7100 is selling at almost the same price or with very insignificant difference, and TS is in need of a new camera, then get the D7100. It is a better camera and it had answer to all or most of the complains against D7000.

For me personally, the lack of the AF Fine tune feature pretty much eliminated the 5xxx and 3xxxx series from my to buy list.

It really depend on what TS want. D7XXX series of DSLR definitely have something that the D5XXX doesn't have, and the latest D5XXX do have a better sensor than the older model of the D7XXX series, but there are other things in a camera that appeal to different groups of people.

From what I see, TS already have D5100... frankly speaking, I don't see any sense for him to 'upgrade' to a D5300. On the other hand... TS also has a D300... so I don't see the reason to upgrade to a D7000 or D7100 unless he wanted to play with movie mode... which by the way, the D5100 has that mode too... and was actually doing that pretty well. So I don't see a reason for the 'upgrade'.

But I am not TS and I do not really know what is his rationale, so I would just assume that he know what he is doing.

Ahh I wasnt aware..yes no AF fine tune means no need to consider for me..lol

Thanks for teaching me sth new. Tbh, I was researching on D5300 because there is one OTW.
How crucial is this function? Read that its unrecommended by Nikon, yet many Nikon users say otherwise.
