Where is an actual thread of pictures TAKEN with the 5DIII ?

:bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie: so are you still having orgasm? Show-off!

nope, if I want to show off, I would have show off earlier! :bsmilie:

just don't like the idea of someone staring at your cam as if it's something alien. just like how a lady would probably not like a guy to stare at her boobs.. you know.. haha..

I think I'm rapidly cooling off and will be sticking with my 5D2 for awhile yet.

I am thinking the greatest advantage of the 5DIII is the ease of usage in challenging condition. Sometimes you miss some shots because of the limitation of the camera, e.g, slower FPS of the older 5D series, and missed or slow AF just to name a couple. These may means alot to some people. There is no right or wrong answers to owning newer cameras. Lastly, in order to produce the picture, you must be able to snap the picture in the first place. If you are not able to snap, even the most expensive camera is useless. I think the 5DIII excels in these areas, not so much in pictures. Imagine in a low light situation, flash not allowed, and there's a moment in that location that warrant any pics taken there and then to be priceless. I certainly won't wanna miss that because my camera can't AF in time.

I will upgrade because I face these issues at times with my classic. But I still love my classic to bits though :)

This is essentially true to the core. Well said :)

How did we ever survive and take great photos in the days when all we had was MF ;)

it is funny to see some bring new cameras out carried but not used, or with big labels stating it is the news model. Usually, when i buy a camera body, first thing i do, graft the body up, no label no model. Use a OEM strip so no indicator if it is new model or not and go shoot photos.

Why you do not like people to look at your gears? I wet my pants whenever the fella next to me has a smaller camera :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Nah just joking! I don't cover up my stuff in any way, but I seriously don't like to advertise my camera model on my camera strap.

Funny, still no photos! Is the 5D3 that bad?

most r still playing with their cam.. the 'getting to know each other better' period since most upgrade from 5D. the menu and stuff new to them. once that period is over, we (hope) will see more photos.

Had not had much time to play with the camera or do any serious shooting yet. And I usually shoot RAW, so it's a pain for me that the profile update for the 5D3 is not available for LR4 yet. Because of that, still no serious photos to post for now except for some test shots which I already posted earlier.

most of the images now are more for technical discussion, like this one i posted in the mark 3 users thread yesterday.

Think most people have just bought the new toy/tool, and haven't really put it through the paces yet. I haven't brought it out for shooting yet meyself either...hence only some shots at home haha

5D3 at ISO 12,800 in dim light. 135mm at F2, 1/40 sec. 100% crop may not be pin sharp, but entire image looks very usable in low light levels

you can see from the 100% crop that the light in my living room was switched off, with the light in by dining room on only. dining room light is 10 metres away from my cat.

with the 5D2, the max iso i wld go was 3200, now with the mark 3, perhaps even F4/5.6 lenses are perfectly useable in low light.

Understood lah! But I still want to challenge all you 5D3 users because only good and high quality photos can help sell the camera. So, for those who sit on the wall, sometimes, just a simple classical photo can tilt them over.

Finally, I see one that rocks me. We posted at the same time.

I think what people want to see for the WOW factor are really high ISO shots and action/sports that seriously test the AF ability (diff AF points/modes, esp the Al Servo mode). Also for the video buffs, some movie clips and perhaps to see how well the video AF works. The low-ISO shots won't be a game-changer when compared to the Mk2 I think.

Yup me too. And Canon's original strap sucks. I use my own comfy Crumpler strap :)

Yup industry disgrace. I can't recall the exact price, about 20-30 bucks? Got it at the Crumpler shop at ION orchard basement.

Gotta' be honest....I'm totally shocked that we are not swamped with photos from new owners showing off what their new 5DIII can do/is capable of.

Was it really a step up from the 5DII or just a slight sideways step? I'm one of them that have never had the slighest complaint from the AF of my 5DMKII.

it is a significant step up for high iso image quality.

AF accuracy of my fast lenses (35 1.4, 24-70, 50 1.4) all seems improved and lenses actually seen sharper...

Have not gotten a chance to do any AF Servo tracking testing. Low light AF lock on is much more confident and faster, and can lock on in darker conditions than 5D2.

btw i'm also one of those who did not have much complaints about the AF of my 5D2, even used the 5D2 for 2 F1 seasons with good results.

just that the 5D3 AF is really much better

Besides the much improved AF, I think the biggest impact of the 5D3 for me is that because of the usability of the high ISO shots, slow lenses can now be used indoors in reasonably dim lighting conditions WITHOUT FLASH. Alternatively, you can now stop down fast lenses indoors when you need to shoot, say, group shots, again without flash. You can now also have the flexibility to ramp up the shutter speed when you want to, because you can now use a higher ISO that you normally would not have used with another camera.

This camera can probably work wonders in dim locations where the use of flash is not allowed. Imagine what the 85L can ably capture at F1.2 with this camera...haven't got time to test this combo yet...;p

Of course, this stuff may not be anything new to the Nikon camp, since they had the D3 series for a while now, but for a Canon-user like me, the 5D3 opens up a whole new world of possibilities in tougher shooting conditions.
