now deciding if I should get a 602 or a 5050 the f1.8 feature on the 5050 might be useful ~ any comments ?
Actually, it is a not a fair comparison. The 5050Z is a 5MP camera with 3X optical zoom, while the 602Z is a 3MP, with 6X zoom. And I seriously doubt at 6MP, the 602Z can match the 5MP Oly 5050.
BUT all said, I do think that the 602Z edges ahead in terms of its AF speed and minimal shutter release lag. This is the 602Z strength, which makes wedding shoots more manageable (hint hint to Hong).
Also, between 3X optical zoom and 6X optical zoom, while it is really a matter of personal needs and preference, but i think big zoom does offer more shooting flexibilities. Zoo trips, concert photos, children's birthday parties, the 602Z is really quite versatile.
Yes, f1.8 does seem to mean good performance under low light. But there are other factors other than aperture size that determines low light performance. On the 602Z, this can be overcome by using an external flash. Face it, under most low light conditions, one will need to use an external flash anyways to overcome camera shake.
