I have some experience sewing additional velcros, strengthening paddings and switching torn Domke together.

i will customise some paddings with velcros. but i will firstly need to see what are your needs. PM me if you are interested. (only for those who are not too fussy about workmanships)

typo error. switching replaced with hand stitching.

CP, TCW n K-13 @ Peninsula Area.

Fotographix at Lucky Chinatown.

Should have a few more shops selling paddings also. But some padddings are brand and model specific.

Sorry, anyone knows where is K-13?

Sigh ... last night went to CP, TCW n K13 but cannot find paddings ... think that I better off try DIY ... or someone got a spoilt Stealth Reporter?

I find it amazing that some of you folks are quibbling over the savings of a couple of dollars on paddings after spending hundreds or even thousands on your camera gear.

After spending thousands of dollars of my camera gear,
no longer have enough $$ to buy any other stuff.

BULLSHIT! :sticktong

think of it this way... after spending thousands of dollars on camera gear, you should not hesitate to spend a few hundred $ to protect them well!

Check out the brand "Lightware" ... great bag-cases, but you will have to import from HK. And not cheap. I think B&H website will have photos. Basically, if you value your gear... prepare to spend $300-500 for a good bag, easily. If you buy a good bag ... it will probably outlast your gear which faces easily obsolescence.

I've had my domke F2 and my lowepro photorunner for about 10 years each... and even in those days it was considered expensive, but heck, after 10 years I think it was worth paying for the better quality (we had less options then than today). Most of the cameras then are gone... but the bags are still around.

so think carefully, invest in a good one .... (as they say) cry once, and never cry again.

Well, same goes for filters, one would argue $10 filter can do the same job as one worth $200, so it very depends.

Protection is important and not many would want to get the right stuff to protect investments. Hehe.

i have no problem with spending some money on bags that can protect my camera.
but the problem is that all the bags like lowepro, domke... scream "I am a Camera bag!"

too much attention.

i prefer my pasar malam bag with paddings and inserts.
protects the camera from knocks as well as thiefs.

Isnt the cost of custom padding enough to justify the cost of spending $50 on a decent Lowepro?

probablybecause they think in terms of absolute cost rather than relative cost

I echo that.
I've resorted to improvising. Pad partitions from traditional camera bag plus additonal velcros. Have try looking around for suitable stuff, but cheap and good stuff is difficult to come by...

my nikon domke look`s padding is so heavily modded.

U can always use those camping foam selling at Beach Rd for around $3 each as padding. Cheap and good, just that you have to cut down to size yourself thot.

Get your own cusion and place into the bag :)

after the search for paddings, I decided just to use camping foam to get the job done ... Cheap but does not look so good ... but the job gets done ..

give us some inspirations! show us the pics of modified custom bag with cheap paddings ;p .

I have posted some pics in the members category but dunno how to link here ... someone mind teaching me? trying out hor ...

Basically 1st attempt, got the padding in the shape that I wanted and scotch taped it (next time should use heavy-duty mounting tape instead). Can put almost all my lens.

The box was placed as a base to help the padding keep in shape and provide additional support.

The cover of the box was retained to be used as a 2nd level, either to put more lens or to put additional things into my bag and preventing them from pressing on the lens
