Where do you send your Leica Lenses for CLA locally

I have always sent my Leica stuff to Schmidt Singapore for service/repairs. Some of it was done locally by Andrew (very knowledgeable and sensible) and some of it was sent back to Germany as recommended that it was beyond the equipment and spares level of the local workshop. Yes, it is painful in both turnaround time and money for Germany but you can sleep afterwards and you can keep the equipment (for life?) afterwards.

It all boils down to how much your equipment is worth and what condition it is in. Sometimes you just have to walk away and start again with a piece of equipment which is in a better condition rather than throwing good money after bad. :)

i am super duper newbie in RF. But isn't it better to always send the cams back to the local authorized dealer?

:think:hmmmm... btw what does CLA stands for??

Clean...Lubricate...Align....C...L...A
No points for guessing who I am
:D:devil:

I had a Canon 50mm f1.2 lens overhauled (more extensive than just a CLA) with DAG and it cost me US$150 + US$50 return. It is on the way... ;p

I recently bought an M4-2 and the range finder is slightly out of allignment. I have gone through all the web links that talk about how to caliberate the rangefinder but would prefer to have it done by a a proper technician. Any recommendations for where I should take it in Singapore (the guys mentioned above in the CLA context?).

regards
Krishna

Cam.X

Quick question, would Cam.X be a good recommendation for a cleaning of my Canon 50mm f1.4 lens? Or should I send it out to DAG?

Haze seems to be building up in the element just behind the aperture blades from some oil substance. :(

Cam.X is sufficient. DAG will be US$200, more than your lens itself! I find it sufficient so far, but you have to be very detailed in asking what you wish done, e.g. haze removal, glass cleaning, aperture cleaning/alignment, etc.

Overseas sourcing for more lenses it seems? ;)

hey saw all of your talk about the locals. but nobody talked about Ron's camera at adelphie? I'm looking to CLA grandpa's Rolleiflex. (sorry abit OT)

I will put a photo in the coming months after it has been worked on. Patience is key .

For Rolleiflex, I would recommend Mr Philip Tay of (DE Camera). I had my 2.8D serviced by him and had very good results.

Please take note, most of the shops in Peninsula are dealing with selling of cameras, but not many are technically trained. Well,, talk to Philip and you will know what I mean.

Tachi..

hey thank you tachi. where can i find this De Camera
