Where do u clean ur sensors for leica rangefinders

Is not cheap...but if is effective, i will say it is a fair investment. I read reviews and getting confused because there are so many models around which i don't understand why do u need so many variants. Then u have the so called kit with DRY/Wet cleaning....so want to hear from more sources.

*I'm not a guy who fuss a lot about dust and must die die have a 100% dust free sensor all the time(which to me is impossible)*

I think it is fair to be charged for out of warranty work. If it has to go to Germany it could take weeks but it is done with warranty. I was told that most sensor damage are usually caused by dusts/dirt being blown into the shutter/sensor mechanism, scratches to the sensor or excess cleaning fluid seeping under the sensor mask. One takes the risk when DIY. It can be DIYed but with care & understanding.

There seems to be confusion on how to manage the sensor cleaning, FYIW, I am sharing my workflow in the order of severity of the dust and the effectiveness of the cleaning (please note that the advice comes with the normal disclaimer, all care no responsibility):

1. If dust is noticeable, try gently blowing with handheld blower.
2. If unsuccessful, try anti-static brush e.g. artic butterfly but ensure the bristles do not touch edge of sensor where they can pickup oils/grease. Subsequent cleaning will smear the oil/grease onto the sensor.
3. If unsuccessful, try wet cleaning (only if you are very experienced as the sensor can be damaged easily) but preferably done by Leica Singapore.

The secret is to maintain the cleanliness daily and not let the dust build up. I change lenses very frequently during a shoot probably more than normal. :)

Hi all,

I have dust on my M240 sensor which just won't come out and intend to send it in for a cleaning to Leica SG... Does anyone know how long my camera will be out of action for?
