AP? or CP?

Anyway I have read reviews that Slik is rather filmsy... so any recommendation for tripod? I am currently using canon A40 :D

The tripod you mentioned is probably the Slik Sprint Pro GM, which is enough to handle your camera.

Alternatively, Slik U6600 (~$40-45) could be good enough if you're not very tall.

my height is 172... any suitable model? But I read about Slik... its rather filmsy and while taking shots... unknowing it will lower itself....

For low cost tripod tht's not 'flimsy' as you've called SLIK as is,
I recommend manfrotto 190 & get a ballhead

manfrotto will cost about $150 (anyone can correct me pls)
a ballhead is about $70. (would recommend manfrotto 308RC, but heard its no longer in production? anyone correct me?)

the above is ideal for you height and sturdy enuff for many cameras up to SLR level.

Manfrotto 308RC no longer available... If you want good and low cost, then suggest you Manfrotto 190 with 486RC2 BallHead...

there's also the Manfrotto 710B that comes with a ball head... 1.7kg and more than sturdy enough for the A40.

well, for slik U6600, if you don't extend the centre piece too much, its not tat shaky..

but I guess for your height, you may need to extend it abit.
