When will the D300s replacement be out?

Will they shift operations to Batam? If yes, definitely will be cheaper also. hahahaha....

My D300s is not made in Japan but thailand

I thought they meant the parts are MIJ while assemble in Thailand?

You never know where the parts come from. They come from anywhere. Made In "X Country" just means the final assembling is done in that country. Made in Japan only means the final assembling is done in Japan. The parts could come from all over the world.

sigh, so difficult to tell. Well, in our highly globalised world, it is near impossible for an entire product to be made in a single country i suppose. it is just not advantageous to do that...

I think also that the point brapodam was trying to make is that "Made in _____" can be intentionally misleading too.
As long as the final process is done in Country A, most of the parts could be made in a 3rd world country, and the final product could still be labelled "Made in Country A"
;)

Leave it be and you will be happier with your purchase....

Regardless whether your gear speaks chinese, thailand or jipun, they will still look down on you if you can't use them to the fullest potential.
I'm still being looked down by the jipun, thai and chinese lens in my digicabi btw :p

The D300s replacement? I'm still waiting too...

That's why it doesn't matter where it's being made. As long as it lives up to its reputation as a quality product, just use it and shoot. I'm keen to know when the D400 is being released too (see what Nikon has up their sleeves with this body). But so far nothing new has been announced from the Taipei Nikon event... *bummer*...

Come on....your iPhones and iPads are from China too, but nobody complain about the quality.

Hooookay! I've just realised no new announcements of DSLR for the 22/3 Taipei event. Now if you'd excuse me, I'd like to go suck my thumb.... ;p

This is a half yr old news, before the Japan earthquake. Our next hope is in mid september.

Wah. Damn long. But can save more money first. Lol. Will buying the first versions be dumb? Like got many initial problems. Like D7000?
