yup I think it really depends on where you are going to.. some places are too 'unsafe' to even bring these expensive stuff.

ouch!! did u managed win the tug of war? :bsmilie:

Un/"Fortunately" not as the guy was riding a bike so don't want to risk dislocating my shoulder... The irony is that the next day I saw the newspapers that the police car was stolen on the expressway (did not happen in SG).... :bsmilie:

i know u post in jest..

but it is better not to injure anyone in any incident.

The police over at the other countries are not obliged to help you.

In fact, they might just drag you to the station for assault and take all your stuff away.

Btw, TS..where are you planning to go? or gone alr? It makes a difference.
depends on the country and police presence..if its a country where snatch thefts are a common daytime occurence, i really would consider using a monopod as a makeshift javelin as a last option especially if carrying thousands of dollars worth of uninsured equipment. Better the equipment in police hands rather then being sold on the open market by the thieves that is if the police makes an issue of it.

"Snatch thief harpooned by Gitzo monopod". Investigations in Progress.
This is the kind of headline news snatch thieves do not like to see.

If the snatch thief is riding a bike, I think the "javelin" method may not work for most... and guess what.. during their incident I need to went to different 3 police station in order to make the report... and it doesn't help if you don't speak their language... :(
